"A Lovely All You Can Eat freshly cooked Sunday Lunch. The Starters were excellent, we had Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup, Ribs, Yuk Sung, Chicken Satay, Won Ton and Vegetable Spring Rolls. Mains Mongolian Lamb, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg , Special Fried Rice and Chips. Ice Cream to Finish Sparkling Water and a Cola for Drinks Everything Piping Hot, Good Quality, Attentive Service. The Bill came to £18-00 each, which seemed like Good Value to me. Definitely be calling again."

"I visited the School House Restaurant on Sunday, April 29, with my little child, and I had an amazing Sunday dinner! When we arrived at our table, there was a high chair ready for my son. The menu was clearly displayed on a board in the restaurant, offering an excellent selection of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I was delighted by the choices, as everything sounded fantastic! I opted for a three-course meal for just £18.95. I enjoyed a classic prawn cocktail, a pork dinner, and a wavy caramel cheesecake. All the ingredients were high quality and expertly cooked. Even my 16-month-old son loved it, especially the cheesecake! The staff was friendly, the service was great, and the meal was a wonderful value for the price. I will definitely be back soon! Thank you for a fantastic dining experience."

"Posting this on behalf of friends who dont do reviews. They had the Christmas menu at The Oak and inform that the salmon and Christmas dinner were very good, cooked well and service was good. Dinning room/conservatory needs some TLC so it is a more pleasant room to dine in, soft music and some nice lamps/pictures would give it a warmer amd more welcoming atmosphere. If The Oak can get people in to dine then it stands more of a chance of staying open and succeeding as a pub, as well as a restaurant."

"Updated 16.05.24 Booked a table for two on a Wednesday night at 5.30pm. We were late by 20mins. There is no telephone number on the website to call ahead to let them know. We did not receive a booking confirmation so we also did not have that option to try and rebook or cancel. On our arrival the member of staff that greeted us was rude and abrupt. We were told our table was held for 15 mins so we had lost our booking, by 5 mins. This would have been acceptable if the restaurant was full it was not. I went outside and was able to book another table for 6pm but yet we were still turned away! I cannot stress enough how rude and unhelpful the staff member was. We will never return after being good customers for some time. Reply from Ego After asking me to contact them. Good morning, Marie, I am sorry to learn about your disappointment when visiting us but after investigating the matter with our team at Sutton-on-Ashfield. We have been informed you were 30 minutes late for your table. You wouldn’t have been able to book again at 6 pm as we were fully booked. None of our team came across as rude or abrupt in the conversation with you they were just explaining what had happened with your booking. "We booked the Eileen Proctor night for 7th December 2022, for this to be cancelled 2 hours before the show was about to start. I had to message the facebook page to see when this would be reschduled and they told me it was now going ahead 15th February. The week before this was due to go ahead, I messaged the facebook page to make sure this was still happening as I hadn't seen any advertisement for this. It took 3 facebook messages, an email and 3 phone calls for me to get a response. The response when they finally answered the phone was a rude lady telling me she knew nothing about the event and nothing was in the diary. I asked if the manager could call me as we had paid £45 for this and needed the refund. All I got was a rude facebook message saying she didn't have time to call me back and it had been rescheduled again for April. At this point, they were just making up dates just to tell us anything. My friend (who booked the tickets) went in to collect the refund which they said we could have to be greeted by a rude huff from the waitress and to be told we had to wait. Would not recommend to visit this pub as my first and only experience has been disgusting."
