Trattoria Verdi - Carte

Trattoria Verdi is always our first stop when we visit London. Kids enjoy their spaghetti bolognese, my husband always asks for the sirloin steak. My all times favourite is the pizza. Not only it tastes delicious but also smells just like home made Italian pizza.

Was quite quiet at 7:30. Food was nice enough. The pasta was very good. The whitebait felt a bit like out of the freezer though. Beware the bill. It says no service charge but there is already 10% added on, so don’t tip twice, unless you really like it he crossed the ‘not’ out when I challenged it the waitress was lovely though and very pleasant and attentive

We visited for lunch with friends. As one of them has mobility challenges and uses a wheelchair I phoned in advance to make sure we had a table at street level. The lady I spoke to was lovely and very helpful and she was just the same when we arrived. We got a great welcome and all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was delicious and the house wine was very drinkable and an excellent price for a central London restaurant. Voir le carte

Came late on a Tuesday evening. Our server Sylvia welcomed us and was friendly and polite throughout. The atmosphere was great, despite being quiet. Good decor and music. Our starters, the bruschetta was very nice, good portion size and presented well. The sauce with the muscles was tasty. Main courses came quickly and decent portion sizes. My only criticism would be the pasta sauce on the tortellinis were on the bland side. Apart from this, great evening and many thanks to Sylvia. Would recommend the Bruschetta.

I often travel to the area for work. I stay at the Hilton hotel a couple of doors down and this is always my restraint of choice for 2 reasons. 1: The food is delicious and not over priced. And 2: probably more importantly, this place has a really nice homely feeling. It always seems to have some locals in there annoying themselves, the staff are fantastic and really friendly. It’s just a really nice place to spend an hour or so. When you’re travelling for work places like this make it enjoyable. Thanks Verdi! Chris

The food is well priced, but pretty average, the pasta was like supermarket pasta, nothing special and I was underwhelmed by the flavour of the sauces. The atmosphere inside and the service was very good but the main issue I have is with the bill. As we were about to settle up my daughter pointed out that several reviewers had remarked on the service charge being already included on the bill I totted up the bill and sure enough a 10% service charge had been added in the total box which very clearly states service charge not included we paid the total, volunteering not to pay the service charge twice, even though we were encouraged to tip the waiter. Following a matinee performance of a musical in the West End, we walked to Bloomsbury to enjoy a meal at the lovely traditional Italian Trattoria Verdi restaurant, pre chosen by seeking a restaurant in the area online. We were seated in the window by our friendly server and ordered drinks and were offered garlic bread, which turned up as warm toasted sticks with butter packs. Our four mains were delicious, consisting of Pizza, Meat balls, Spaghetti and Lasagne. We had a bottle of red wine and a coke for the driver plus two coffees to finish. Went here as I was nearby with my child and he wanted an Italian meal. The food was okay. Prices were as you would expect for London. The problem came when the bill arrived. Clearly written on the bottom was ‘Service not included.’ I thought the bill was more expensive than I was expecting (this would probably be missed in a bigger group). I added it up and the total was more than was written on the bill. We are a Masonic Chapter, who usually dine in Tuttons, Covent Garden where when I was a member of Westminter Bank. latterly Lothbury Lodge, we dined here regularly: I have since Joined another Lodge, Three Banks, who dine after meetings in Tuttons Covent Garden. Due to a mix up at Tuttons, the booking was cancelled and the Secretary of the Chapter, had to rebook initially with a restaurant Boulervard Brasserie, but they had to cancel our bookin, due to a internal problem they had.
