"We tried to go there for lunch today just after 11.30am. There was a few people finishing their breakfast and plenty of empty tables. Upon walking in, there was no-one at the bar and no-one manning the front of house desk either. We tried to catch someone 's eye but there was only one waitress we could see who was rushed off her feet in the main restaurant. We waited 10 minutes at the front of house desk and the f-o-h scruffy looking boy (early 20s) finally came to greet us. Not one word of apology for leaving us standing there for 10 minutes. We asked if they were short-staffed today and his reply was a surprised look back at us saying no, this is the change-over . We said we had been standing there for 10 minutes and his response was I doubt it, I walked past here 8 minutes ago ... Really? Again, no apology and not one ounce of professionalism in his attitude. He finally showed us to a table in the main restaurant, did not designate which waitress would be looking after us and after sitting at the table for another 10 minutes with again no service, we decided that was enough and left to have lunch elsewhere. This is a real shame as we often use the Toby Carvery and the man who generally mans the front of house desk is the most helpful and polite person. Not sure who decided to hire the one we had the unfortunate experience to meet today but seriously, rethink your recruitment process! His appearance was appalling and his attitude was not what we would expect from someone who greets you at the front of house desk (first impressions... terrible). I wish there was an option to give NO star rating but we will have to settle with one star for maybe finally sitting down for 10 minutes."

Great value for money, cheapest and best place I’ve found for a decent breakfast certainly worth a visi

The decor was very run down and grubby. The food was dried up and cold. We were very disappointed and won’t be repeating a very disappointing experience

Excellent food and friendly service. Our waitress Lauren was very helpful and friendly... service with a smile. Chefs made a difference too... plenty of banter which makes the whole dining experience very pleasant. We'll be back.

We had the most enjoyable carvery here. Yes the pub is looking a little tired, but the food and staff more than make up for it. Carvery was very nice we did not go hungry and the staff whilst busy were always polite and helpful. Well done! Voir le carte

Currently in the Toby. Food is OK.. drinks good. Server friendly. It's been a while since we've been here. The decor is awful, carpets filthy. This place needs a whole makeover. Don't know if this is in the pipeline but really needs doing. I'm facing a massive cobweb.. 6 out of 10.. It'll be a while until we return.

We visited here for breakfast, I have to say run down is an understatement. This place felt dirty and unloved. The breakfast selection was appalling, we’ve visited Lyons Farm Toby carvery in the past and the selection was brilliant and we had a great time. How you can get some so drastically different 10 mins down the road is beyond me. What little food we did get was dry and over cooked the bacon I couldn’t cut through let alone chew through and the mushrooms were so over cooked they were like bullets. The company need to invest some serious money into this place. I’m surprised the windows haven’t fallen out and the building hasn’t come crashing down. I would not recommend visiting here. Toby Carvery, Worthing is in The George which is situated in Goring at the end of the shopping area. We had booked a table for 5.30p.m. for dinner and were lucky to get one. It became very busy just after that time so it makes sense to have a booking. The George is a large, old pub which has been partially converted into a restaurant. It could do with some parts being updated. It has pleasant and helpful staff who are efficient in the way in which they serve customers. There is an extensive selection of every type of drink available and a very good food menu from which to select your meal. Starters and desserts are delivered reasonably quickly to your table. The main courses you collect from...

I will state firstly that staff were friendly and prompt, the roast meats were pretty okay (for a carvery). A decent range of meats including beef and lamb. A good range of vegetables and sides, typically crunchy cauliflower cheese, dry carrots. I can forgive the average food, but it is by no means ‘cheap’ anymore. This is only a fiver away from possibly one of the best roasts I’ve ever had anywhere (a clue the name of the pub is the same, just a few miles up the road). The additional extra ‘pigs in blankets’ were a bit of a liberty for what was a small bowl of greasy cremated mini chipolatas. What just makes the experience so downmarket is that the pub is soooo overdue a lick of paint and s...

"I would first like to start out by saying that this is a gorgeous little cafe, with very friendly staff and great options for everyone. I have been eating at The Orchard for a couple of years, and have loved it. I am plant based, and have always found their vegan options to be brilliant! However, last week I accidentally ate meat for the first time in 6 years due to fault of the chef. Twice in a row, I have visited and ordered a vegan) seitan Reuben sandwich, and have been served the real meat version instead, which I believe contains corned beef traditionally. Luckily for me, the first time this happened, the waitress noticed before I could even eat any, and they replaced it quickly. I understand these things do happen, and am a big believer in second chances, so I went back recently. I ordered the same sandwich, and took 3 mouthfuls before realising something tasted unfamiliar, so I checked inside and found real meat. I was devastated when I realised, and so was the waitress and manager. The manager refunded our total bill, and was incredibly apologetic and mortified that it had happened. I know this wasn't any fault of the front of house staff they listened carefully. I feel like I can't go back, unfortunately, as I can't risk eating meat again. And I'm really sad that's the case, because this was one of my favourite spots to eat and I'll miss it so, so much!! I hate to rate a small business poorly, but I really felt I needed to warn any non meat eaters, as I can only imagine how much more devastating it would be if this happened to someone that gave up meat for religious or allergy reasons. If you eat meat then there's no need to worry, as this place is fantastic otherwise. If the cafe replaces their chef then I would love to come back one day... :"
