"We booked the Wheatsheaf for mum's wake, after a service at the nearby church. They went the extra mile, laying out a table with vases of flowers on it for a memorial book and photos. THey provided tea and coffee, juices and a huge selectiion...of mostly veggie and vegan food at our request. The meat eaters were bowled over by the quality and taste of the food, and happy with the meat-based offerings, too. My partner, a vegan, said the vegan sausage roll was the nicest she'd ever had! There were sandwiches, cakes and pastries, all made with care and great skill. The bar staff are fast, friendly and kept the wake guests happy. The pub is modern, clean and the menu is great. Thanks to Di and the team for looking after us with great care and consideration on such an emotional day."

The dining experience was excellent, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. I visited for work and this was my second time here. It will definitely be a place I come back to regularly. Pork lovers must try the crispy pork belly with apple sauce, it was amazing!

This was a second visit having enjoyed an excellent time there over two years ago. Knowing we’d be travelling up the M1, we booked again for the evening of Sunday, 23rd January and again we left delighted with everything, the drinks, the food and the...pleasant and attentive service. From the starters through to the desserts, it was exceptional and we look forward to another visit sometime soon.

Stayed here to meet up with family from Scotland 11th Feb 2022. Booked in on a fantastic deal, 1 night bed and breakfast including 2 course dinner for two £120. Lovely comfy cosy en-suite room. Comfortable bed, wet room en-suite, lovely clean accommodation. Evening meal...was excellent, extensive menu, Choose anything on menu no restrictions on the deal could not fault anything. Highly recommend the vegetarian tart and the banoffee toffee waffle was to die for. Lovely friendly staff. Most enjoyable evening. 10/10 Thank you

We’ve lived in Crick for 4 years and The Wheatsheaf is our local. In that time we have found the food (and beer) to be excellent. We decided to book for Christmas Day lunch with a group of friends as it was just the two...of us this year. And wow what a good decision that was. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. We had a mixture of main courses in our group duck, Turkey and beef and we were all really happy with the food. The starters and deserts were also fantastic. Service was amazing as always! Thank you so much Team Wheatsheaf for giving up your Christmas Day to look after us.

While we were visiting the quaint town of Crick, we decided to revisit The Wheatsheaf after 4 years. I'm glad we did! It's one of the best places we've been to in a long time. The pub is well-maintained and very welcoming. On Monday evening, the bar was bustling with early customers enjoying a pre-dinner drink. Once we were seated in the cozy restaurant, we were promptly attended to by a friendly and efficient waitress. The teriyaki salmon noodles were excellent, as was the salt and vinegar crispy chicken. The portions were generous and beautifully presented. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience at The Wheatsheaf and wish it was closer to home!

An excellent pub with good food and simple but good accommodation. We visited on a busy weekend but the staff made us feel welcome and we were well looked after. The room was modern and simply furnished but comfortable with a good ‘wet room’ style...shower. Everything was clean. We shared an evening meal with family who live nearby. A good selection of dishes on the menus included a fair selection of vegetarian dishes as well as good steaks, pies, duck etc. There was a good selection of beer along with a short but sensible wine list with wines at fair prices. The staff were attentive and good humoured considering that the restaurant and bar were very busy indeed. A positive experience of thi...

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
