"We came to Keswick for the day and spotted this pub whilst having a wander. We managed to get a table even though it was 1pm on a Sunday. We had 2 dogs with us and they were able to go anywhere in the pub, which suited us brilliantly. Nice choice of lagers, in particular the Cruzcampo. Lunch was either beef or pork so we both settled on beef. There was a bit of a wait but it was absolutely worth it. Beautiful thick, soft and moist slices of beef, creamy mash, roasties, carrots, parsnips and mange tout topped off with a big Yorkshire Pudding and lovely thick gravy. I took my hubbys parsnips in return for my roasties. Both were lovely. So full we couldn't manage dessert. Cost was £13.25 per meal. Worth every penny. Absolutely recommend."

Great pub with a great name. Had an excellent gluten free fish and chip meal with a fantastic gluten free draught ale. Very polite and clean. Thank you

Beer great for the Camera crowd but bar needs to put fire on, a damp pub relying on customers to warm up bar isn’t good in anyone’s book. Please put fire on when it’s cold damp.

The food was not good and unfortunately, the staff did not seem to care much. It's a shame because this place has a good reputation. The food was okay, but the bad service culture of the staff was disappointing.

So, after a great day at the brimstone spa we decided to wander along to the Wainwright Arms for a bit of Friday night subsidence. All I can say is that we were treated by a great team and the owner was wonderful. The food was 2nd to none and the staff manager wee attentive. Can recommend enough. This place is a gem x

Whilst I live in Keswick, it has been a few years since I last visited The Wainwright. Meeting friends who enjoy a beer and thought of The Wainwright for a change. Very impressed by the range and quality of the beers. Whilst it was mid afternoon and mid week just about every table was occupied and can see why. Will be back in the near future. Voir le carte

I was greeted by a very unfriendly bartender who charged me £9 for a pint of beer and a lime and soda. I had to request a receipt and he reluctantly gave it to me. When I asked about the price of the lime and soda, he just grunted. £1.90 for soda and £2 for lime cordial... unbelievable! On the positive side, £5.10 for a pint seemed like a good deal!

This pub is fantastic, and credit goes to Johan and the team for running it so smoothly. It embodies the perfect atmosphere of a pub in the Lake District. They offer a variety of beers, delicious food, and a diverse crowd all enjoying themselves. My wife mentioned that the Christmas decorations this year were especially impressive, Johan. We will definitely be returning every time we visit Keswick.

"I would have loved to rate our dining experience at the Ivy House a lot higher but we were to leave somewhat disappointed. The dining area was pleasant and intimate with well appointed decor, the waitress and waiters pleasant, polite and attentive. The varied menu looked very appetising with most tastes catered for. We chose two courses from the main menu, the Duck Breast and a Fish Dish for myself. Contrary to other reviews we were to wait over 40 minutes before the food was presented to us. We were not advised of any delays or even the expected length of time we might have to wait. The food on arrival was well presented and flavoursome although I did not consider two small stem broccoli spears a serving. I also asked the waiter why there was no Samphire to accompany my dish as stated on the menu, this comment was also reinforced by a fellow diner who ate the same dish just prior to me. The waiter advised me that he would ask the chef. I did not receive a response to my question during further table service and subsequently asked the waiter again. On returning the waiter advised me the chef said “he will try to remember to put it on next time”, a somewhat disrespectful comment. The Cheese platter we were presented with was lacklustre and sparse, quince jelly and a small dish of chutney being the predominant feature. For ourselves we did not feel that our dining experience represented good value for money."
