Food was delicious , staff couldn't do enough for us , such a cosy lovely place

Good staff, good food, plenty of it, nice surroundings, just on the outskirts of Thirsk. Well worth a visit, definitely go again.

The staff were fantastic when we told them we needed something to eat when we only had 45 minutes before our train left Thirsk Station. They packed up pizza and chips for us so quickly we almost had time to eat them before we left. Extremely friendly and helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The pizza was good too!

We were trying to find somewhere dog friendly and open for lunch on a Monday. We stumbled on The Vale of York on our way to Ripon. The lady behind the bar was absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough. They even made me a sandwich that wasn’t on the menu to satisfy my vegetarian needs. My partner had steak pie with veg and mash and thoroughly enjoyed that too.

Stayed for two nights. Staff were lovely, though they didn’t know we were booked in through booking.com, seemed a little disorganised. Had food on first night which was lovely. However, the room was a let down. Shower room was tired not very clean at all there was a yellow stain on the single bed bed sheet, thankfully we didn’t have to use it. Bedding did not fit bed double sheet duvet on king size bed . Voir le carte

Phoned in the afternoon to book a carvery meal. Very friendly reception from staff. Arrived and were the last people booked for the carvery. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was terrific. The carvery was served by two staff and the portions were enormous! There was a lot of variety, and even though we were the only people left the food was hot and fresh. The atmosphere was so welcoming we stayed for a drink in the bar after we had eaten. Would highly recommend the Vale of York.

Monday Mar 25th 2024. I missed an earlier train back to London. The next one was not until later that afternoon. I asked some people at the station if they could recommend anywhere to eat ... I was pointed to a place called the Vale of York ... a five minute walk from Thirsk Railway station. First impressions last. I was served by a lady named Amy, very chatty and recommended the soup and the Vale Burger ... It was FAR better than I expected and wonderfully presented. The pics I'm attaching are video screen grabs. A REALLY positive experience!

We've been wanting to try The Vale of York since it was taken over so we decided to go for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We were greeted by a friendly lady who got us our drinks, we asked to put them on the bill as we were eating but were told we had to pay straight away as they don't do bills. We chose our meals and also had to pay straightaway. Our meals arrived quickly and all looked very nice. My husband had the vale burger which he said the bread bun was stale or it had been defrosted in the microwave so was hard, the inside burger and salad were very good.
