"My wife, daughter, and I decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews we had seen about the pies (and other delicious plates of food). It is a family-friendly pub where everyone seemed to be in good spirits. We ordered 2 pints of Timmy Taylor beer and a pint of coke. The landlord and his partner were very friendly and attentive. We all enjoyed homemade pies with chips and peas, topped with delicious gravy. It was nice to have plenty of gravy with our meal. We had one steak and ale pie and two steak and stilton pies, and they were absolutely delicious. The pies were filled generously with meat, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The pub was bustling with patrons enjoying their meals, reinforcing my belief that serving good food will bring customers back. We will definitely be returning."

I had steak and chips washed down with Dumbar ale. Perfect way to spend a Saturday evening. Good food , delicious beer and great atmosphere. Recommended.

Best pub on the outskirts of Matlock town centre. Fabulous home cooked and locally sourced food, and great service from Becky and team. Highly recommended. 5* xxx

Beautifully presented Sunday lunch, with excellent homemade Yorkshire puddings, plenty of vegetables and lovely gravy. We were made very welcome and even though the portions are generous, we just had to try the homemade apple pie (one piece with two spoons!!! Voir le carte

We visited twice last week whilst on holiday in a cottage just around the corner. A very warm and friendly welcome, followed by a selection of good beers and rounded off with some excellent traditional food. We will return in the future and would thoroughly recommend it.

This local pub is fantastic, with a selection of great beers. The food is top-notch, particularly their renowned beef and ale pie with authentic gravy. The service is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming with cheerful regulars. A must-visit spot if you're in Matlock.
