The Staple Hill Oak

We enjoyed our visit here today. Great food. I enjoyed my chicken and rice. My wife and mother in law had big jackets and filling. I even had room for pudding. Cheers to the chefs and bar staff

Had a lovely meal the food was good served quite quickly plenty of it and very good value for money well worth a visit . Staff also very friendly and helpful would recommend this place to anyone

vaping by a younger large group of lads at the front near the windows while my family were trying to eat was completely disgusting and spoiled our lunch on Sunday this must be stopped ,a very unhealthy and disgusting habit

Have been here several times and love there chicken tikka masala however menu states served with rice naan bread poppadoms mango chutney but have yet to get the mango chutney when I query this am told its not available this is not just a one off am guessing there is a world shortage of mango chutney so no big deal.

Cheap and cheerful . This spoons has a cosy feel and polite staff. Although on Monday the signs said stay put by the door until a member of Staff has seen you. Well they seen me and ignored me including the off duty ones until a punter said no ones bothering today. Oh well I got a seat and used my app to order food and drink.

Called in this Wetherspoons on a grey Saturday on are way back home from holiday. Ordered the fish and chips. Food great, very tasty and hot. Service fantastic and staff actually cleared plates and glasses very efficiently and also cleaned tables at the same time. The staff here are the best Wetherspoons staff I’ve come across. Well done.

Ended up here by default but will definitely be going back. Demographic initially (Late afternoon on a Saturday) was mostly older males but transitioned into a more diverse crowd as the evening went on. Really nice atmosphere, staff were friendly and very helpful (Went out to the local shop to buy some Soya milk for my friend as they didn't have any in at the time). The doorman on duty appeared to be very experienced and kept an eye on the pub and clientele in personable, non-intimidating manner. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Oh, and an added bonus, the toilets were clean. Looking forward to visiting again.

Let’s be honest, most Wetherspoons are silent, soulless warehouses of misery and drunkenness. This one isn’t. It’s got the friendliest staff and the nicest atmosphere of all the pubs in Staple Hill or Fishponds. Feels more like a family/community pub than a ‘spoons. Wrongly gets blamed for a lot of the antisocial behaviour that actually centres around the other pubs in the area and then lands on their doorstep, and the drifters who come in for cheap booze before they go elsewhere to “get on it, maaaan” but any issues are always dealt with quickly and quietly. Today I was on day care duty for the nursing home I visit, and I took a lovely man who learning difficulties and in a wheelchair out for lunch, who specifically asked to go for pie and chips, bearing in mind the bloke doesn’t get the opportunity to go out a lot as we are incredibly short staffed and underfunded. (Thanks Boris) Dear of him, didn’t enjoy the car journey as very anxious but once we got to the pub he was happy as Larry, I googled local pubs that sell pie and chips because I was determined to take him to get what he wished for, and so The Staple Oak came up on our search, I looked at the menu which stated Pie and Chips!
