"As a Texan living in the UK I usually avoid Mexican food because it wholly disappoints. But I was intrigued by the reviews. Overall I was very pleased. Marguaritas were fresh and light with a tart bite, and guacamole was excellent. I would argue that the Tex Mex menu isnt you can't ignore am enchilada in that catagory! I had the Conchinita tacos. Pork was tender and flavorful, although the onions were to sweet and sticky for this kind of dish. Rice and refried beans were spot on. Service was fantastic. Overall great night, and I would definitely return."

"We were visiting the area and this was our local pub. The menu is really nice and got off to a great start with really nice starters and good wine. We both ordered different steaks, and unfortunately both were overcooked. We sent them back with no bother, and to be fair to the staff, they didn't charge us for any of the wine we had that evening to apologise for the mistake. Problem was that the steaks were still over-cooked 2nd time round too, but we didn't say anything. Also worth being aware there didn't seem to be a drinks-only part to this pub, it was just a restaurant inside, so nowhere really to relax pre/post dinner. Young staff members were a bit too keen and needed to listen/slow down a little! So, it was alright, I might give it another go, but with so many other great options in the area i'm not sure I would really!"

"Food was exceptionally good as was the atmosphere. We thought the scallop starter was fantastic and the flavours in the cod and chorizo main course delicious. The BBQ broccoli was delightful. In fact all the food was very flavourful, and we felt we could have selected anything from a very interesting menu and had a ‘menu winner’. Service was good, friendly and willing in what is quite a busy restaurant, although didn’t quite match the (very high) standards of the food. A couple of times we had to hand back empty bottles and dirty glasses that were no longer needed. The staff also missed their chances to upsell us on bread and vegetables. But the waiters/resses were all charming and helpful and with a little more experience will also be exceptional soon we are sure. All the best to this new and exciting team!"

"warm and welcoming like a home from home! we visit this pub at special locations as it is an hour away from home, but it is always so worth the greeting they receive is so warm, the staff is incredibly friendly and efficient the atmosphere. is beautiful with a log fire that burns away and finally eating, hearty, large portions, well presented and easy feel as if they went back to home to “Mums” for dinner! I never order a roast everywhere, because nothing compares with my mums, but here is the only exception! Many thanks that they cate to us again hosting us and john was perfect as usual! I'm sure I'll be back soon! abigail and family xx"

"Had not visited for some time but, the rumour was that it was very busy and food good and you needed to book...so did for 12.30. Seated quickly by a very pleasant young lady who quickly took our drinks order, delivered it as quickly and then took our order......2 onion soups and a scampi and a pie of the day (steak and ale). Soups arrived after a slight delay.......lots of onion, but no taste of onion; crouton only had sprinkling of cheese Scampi came with lots of fries, but the cold plate was swamped with salad with dressing why serve cold salad with hot food. Disappointingly the steak and ale pie was 'bought in ' and not home made and was sitting on a bed of vegetable and mashed potato in what seemed to be a cold soup plate, making it slightly difficult to eat. Vegetables properly cooked and good mash....pie neither tasted of beef or ale. Staff very pleasant and looked after us, but food!!!!!!! Not value for money today I 'm afraid but they have repaired the door closer since our last visit."
