I only give the extra star for the patio. The inside is dirty a d the lady behind the bar clearly hates people. Not sure why she works/runs a pub?? the many other reviews that say the same thing....it 's true!!! Go to the fishpond

The midland is mid tbh. Rude and unfriendly staff; the burger was just a patty and a slice of cheese and the salad was not fresh, it was bone dry. The only nice thing is the location. What a waste of a spot. Service: 1 Location: 4

I couldn't believe they charged £6.95 for a pint of Coke! When I asked about the price, they confirmed it was accurate. This was even more expensive than a pint of Moretti beer. I felt totally ripped off. I decided not to order the Sunday lunch, fearing the gravy might cost the same as a pint. On the upside, the hotel was nice and quiet. Voir le carte

If you're looking for a terrible dining experience, the Midland is the place to go. I've never been reprimanded for placing an order before. The staff, while claiming to be friendly and polite, were anything but. The Sunday dinner could have used more sweetcorn, and the only redeeming feature of my visit was the pork scratchings. I would suggest steering clear of this restaurant if you want to enjoy your day. Rating: Rooms: 1, Service: 1, Location: 1.

Went for a pint today, and took my mum and uncle who are normally very tolerant of others, but even they said how miserable the bar lady was. It 's as if she begrudged me paying for a pint. Had it not been for my company I was close to saying If it 's making you that grumpy, then best quit The bar and its beer garden were below-par. So much potential. The selection of beer is equally naff. Left half my pint and we went to Buxton. Avoid, but then I would take a picnic and avoid the main street all together....it 's depressing when the actual Derbyshire Dales are stunning.

Reading these reviews I know exactly who the grumpy woman on the bar was after todays visit! Me and my partner order a pie and chips and the chips were lukewarm, asked that lovely pleasant cheery woman on the bar to heat it in the microwave for her to come back and say that it will not be possible and the chef would have to re-do the whole thing! All I wanted was hot chips! She then returned from the kitchen to say the chef probed it and it’s “between the right temperatures for serving” I said I only wanted the chips heating up and she then said the same sentence “the chef said it was the right temperature” in a sarcastic manner and stormed off!
