"I only ever write a review for something if it is amazing or so shockingly bad that I can only vent my anger by telling everyone I know (and on the internetz how bad it is... I 've never felt the need to write the latter until I entered MERIDIAN... Long story short, boyfriend and I got off the train and were hungry and nearby was Meridian. Checked the menu outside which served a mix of american and italian style dishes. On entering it wasn 't too busy, quickly noted the bad country music but it did come across as that sort of place (did I mention we were hungry? . Got a table ourselves and had a look at the menu, waitress quickly came over and was nice enough. We got a bottle of wine while we looked over the menu...Then the fun began.. I chose seafood pasta, the waitress asked me specifically if I wanted penne or linguine and I said penne, boyfriend ordered chicken enchillada. Not even five minutes later his chicken enchillada appeared..or at least we were told that 's what it was..It looked like someone had been drinking some pepto bismol and been sick over a Greggs pastie. It had a neon pink sauce! What the hell is that? Then my pasta came and it was linguine and all the waitress said was Oh, he cooked the wrong pasta HOW CAN YOU COOK THE WRONG PASTA, THEY 'RE DIFFERENT SHAAAAAPES. Anyway it was overcooked and bland, the prawns were said to be tiger prawns and I wish I had took a picture because they were small and twirly shaped? My boyfriend made a comment that they could have been microwaved. At first I didn 't want to make a fuss (this was only when the pasta scenario came up but it was just the worst meal I 've ever seen nevermind ventures to eat. Then the waitress came over, probably after seeing us looking at our food a little terrified she asked if we were okay. The sirens went off, we said no, I wasn 't happy with the pasta and my boyfriend let her look at his cremated pepto bismol chicken. It was laughable. She took our meals away and in full view of the restaurant (about six of us she discussed us with her staff who in turn decided to make nasty glances at us and ignored us for the rest of our time there, which we found really funny. Chieftan of the microwave also appeared during this and he joined in this staring competition (way to earn that Higher in Home Economics buddy . Finally the waitress came back over and said she wouldn 't be charging us for our food DAMN RIGHT YOU 'RE NOT CHARGING US! The fact that people pay money for this is a real cause for concern... Le sigh. Anyway that was our experience."

The Meridian is a visually appealing bar with decent food, but the menu is lacking in creativity. The staff are disrespectful, unaccommodating, and unwelcoming. I would advise against ordering the wine, as it is truly terrible, especially the pink variety. Voir le carte

I don't normally have much for breakfast, but as I had an overnight stay next-door, I had a huge fry up! It was just perfect! I couldn't quite believe I ate so much, but it was too good to waste. The staff are just lovely, so helpful and friendly. Many thanks.

that is connected to the ayrshire galloway hotel. after the last 4 days stay in the hotel it was the breakfast option. not since a house, so generally only ate 2 rolls and cut to breakfast every morning. mete some family and also had breakfast and she loved it. full Scottish breakfast. can't go wrong.

The Meridian is a lovely spot to enjoy coffee, a snack, or a full meal. The interior is very modern and the food is excellent. It's a relaxed and easy-going place that's perfect for meeting up with friends, having a coffee, or enjoying a few beers without the noise of busier establishments. This restaurant/bar is pleasant and one of the better choices in Ayr. There is good menu which centres on pizza and pasta dishes. Service is with a smile, although slightly inattentive. The decor is tasteful and bright with a continental cafe theme. The pizza is rather good with fresh ingredients and a light thin base. The prawn tempura was similarly good. The whole affair is, however, somewhat overpriced there can be better value found elsewhere in Ayr.

It's the small things that matter the booths, the black § white photos on the wall, the movie quotes from iconic movies. The toast having the griddle marks... The service was very efficient. I ordered the French toast with a side order of bacon which was crispy just the way I liked it. 3 slices of French toast with a side dish of syrup. £4.95 My husband ordered the vegetarian breakfast and really enjoyed it. His only comment would be about the tomato being barely cooked and cold. £5.95 Coffee was lovely also.
