"I can't think of a better way to offer a whole heap of thanks to the landlord, chef and all of the staff at the Merchants. Thursday saw the funeral of my gorgeous girlfriend Lyndsay. After the ceremony, we held a wake at the pub. And, as much as any funeral wake can be, it was brilliant- -The food was excellent -The staff were friendly, polite and understanding -The room was perfect for the sixty or so attendees. If anyone is looking for a venue for a party/wake/wedding, I can HIGHLY recommend the merchants. Definitely exceeded expectations! Many thanks again, from myself and Lyndsays family and friends."

Easily one of the best if not the best drinking pub in Rugby, friendly staff, a good setting, good ales and impressive gin selection.

If you're a beer lover, this is the place to be. It's definitely the best spot for beer in Rugby, complete with a great atmosphere. My companion described the beer as “exceptional” and “well-kept.” However, the wine selection left much to be desired; I ended up with a very acidic French Chardonnay. Additionally, they don’t serve Coca-Cola at the bar, just a rather disappointing Fever-Tree cola. On the bright side, the interior is impressively decorated with beer memorabilia, and they show sports on a large projector screen, which adds to the overall vibe.

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
