"Do not come here! Absolutely shocking service and staff attitude in this establishment. My partner and I ordered our food, 40 minutes went by and tables seated after us were receiving their orders before we had so much as a starter. It became very clear they had not passed our ticket to the kitchen. When I asked one of their teenage waiters what was the hold up was, there was absolutely no concern for issue. It then took a further 15 minutes for a manager to resolve the problem. Today we tried again as the restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area, however, upon our entry to the bar area no one came to seat us or even acknowledge we were standing there. We left and will never return."

the best pub in newbury. I lived 25 years ago in the city and I was very glad to see that it didn't change much. it got better!

we had nice time in the lock stock barrel. the atmosphere was great, drinks were good. the place has a beautiful interior and exterior seating area is absolutely fantastic! best view from a pub in whole newbury area.

Nice ambience with good selection of Fullers ales and other brands. Small selection of toasted sandwiches and fries available as well as daily specials. Lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the Kennet Avon canal. Nice friendly staff.

clean and modern bar however extremely over priced for £7 a pint! The bar staff were so great and friendly (joe was amazing and so great). Sadly I am unlikely to come here again as there are very similar pubs in Newbury at half the price for the same quality.

four of us had lunch here. Drinks and a cure, each three braincakes and a ham and chips. everything was very delicious, the staff was very pleasant and friendly. we ate outside the river. it is very nice along this stretch with lots of go. total bill was £20 a head

What a lovely situated pub on the river Thames. Lovely decor and really nice staff. But wow. What a let down with the food. I wouldn't even serve this in a school for free. And the price wasn't cheap! So much potential, ruined by not looking after customers but charging a fortune

Steak was pretty much the best I’ve had in the UK so far (including proper silverware that allow you to cut into meat without a struggle), cooked exactly as a rare steak should be however I would have enjoyed it much more if the kids noise would have been reduced and the background music increased (obviously a parent problem there). Waited for more than 40 minutes for two dishes to come out knowing that the table was to be free within an hour and a half from arrival. Dog friendly pub with nice seating view outdoors towards the canal.
