"our first visit was fantastic, eating was delicious, and good service. there were so tasty duck and sweet dishes. tiramisu was delicious. big red wine too. large open restaurant, spacious seating, beautiful deco. toilets clean. the staff on the quiet side, not very friendly or welcoming. our second visit was actually just the next day. we had swept so much over the place where my son wanted to try. but unfortunately we were very disappointed. the lasagna was bland and cold in the middle (I have informed the waitress) and the rest of the food was not on the previous night standard. the roasted seafoods were more like a tapas dish, my sea bass was tasteless and underwhelming. maybe it was because of the weekend of st. valentine?. hopefully it was just a bad day for the staff. my five star rating was only for our first night. we loved it."

"This restaurant is decent enough. The menu is good and the food we received, while not exactly what we ordered, was tasty. The only thing that prevented it from being a 4-star experience was the staff. They were talking loudly across the restaurant to each other (even though it wasn't noisy or crowded) and one staff member kept yelling at Alexa to play different dance music tracks repeatedly. It detracted from the overall dining experience. However, the prices are reasonable and the restaurant offers a nice view of the square."

"Ordered a takeaway from here, and was it ready in good time for pick up. The food was for the most part good and the onion bhajis were excellent. My one and only issue was that the restaurant's style of Chicken Tikka Masala was not to my liking. It was very minty and fruity in taste and unlike any Tikka Masala I have ever had. I would have preferred a more traditional rendition. To be fair when we ordered the restaurant warned us that their Tikka Masala was quite different. But for my money their changes to this dish undermined what for the most part was a very good meal. By all means have that dish on the menu but in my view it was not a Tikka Masala. Perhaps a Minty Masala"

"We decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday roast at The Wheatsheaf, having heard good things about the food there. It was such a great choice, as our food was fabulous. We had booked our table, which was a good decision as it was getting quite busy. It was ready for us, with our name on it, with nicely set out glasses and cutlery. We had our dog with us and he was given biscuits and water. It was no problem having him in the eating area. Although if you have a lively dog, I'd possibly not bring them, as it's not a massive space. We opted for the roast beef. It was perfectly cooked a real surprise as a lot of places overcook the meat. This was pink and served with red wine gravy and all the trimmings. The veggies were lovely. We had crisp roast potatoes, parsnips carrots, tenderstem broccoli and cauliflower cheese. The plate was not overloaded, which was appealing. Also it wasn't dominated by any over sweetened red cabbage, which seems to be a thing at the moment! The home made mint sauce was fresh and vibrant. The service was fabulous thank you Cheryl. We were really well looked after and made to feel very welcome. I'd really recommend The Wheatsheaf Sunday Roast based on our experience."
