"So, given all the positive reviews I'm just going to have to guess that on the evening of an August Bank Holiday Monday the chef was elsewhere. It's a nice locals pub, good atmosphere and staff but the meal for 4 was terrible value e.g. £23 for lemon sole that was awful overcooked and/or dredged out from the bottom of the freezer and defrosted. Fish and chips that came with about 6 chips i.e. gastro pub in price only that day. Sorry if it had been a better price I wouldn't have mentioned it. I really should have said something at the time but my party just wanted to leave, which I admit is not good i.e. had the pub said sorry and written off the lemon sole you don't need to write a review, so this is more a note to others. Gorgeous pub especially on a sunny day sitting outside looking over the valley. Very dog friendly, staff love the dogs! Food nice too. Honeycomb ice cream amazing!

Authentic English Pub experience!!! The real deal. Friendly family run wonderful old World charm. Nice deck with great view at the rear garden. Food is super fresh tasty.

I had the best vegan Sunday roast I've ever had. The gardens are beautiful and the staff and owners are so friendly. Just brilliant. Vegetarian options: I had a choice of two vegan options, which is pretty good really. excellent small country pub. the food was excellent. one of the best moules marines I've had for a long time. even though it needs more brot to enjoy the excellent sauce. that was intended, but at £3 extra seemed to be pretty high. the fish and chips were however sublime. the pub is quite small in the inner with a small parking space. it is quite 'related' overall. the best place is outside in the garden with fields. a visit is worth a visit. I'll go back for one.
