Great pub with the best fish and chips in town The place is so cosy especially in winter.

Good service and food quick to arrive. A little dark inside and seating not the best if in a group. My dinner was okay but I 've had nicer roasts. The pork very fatty and the roasties were a bit 'Aunt Bessies '.

Such a cool little pub. If there's 4 or less, I recommend doing if you can book the tiny little snug which has a door that closes behind you making it completely private. The food also looked amazing and we'll definitely try since next time Voir le carte

A real traditional English pub, serving a great menu of tasty food balancing tradition with modern taste. This place is a gem! I am biased because I met a lovely young girl here over 40 years ago. She changed my life. We've just had lunch here.

Visited the Free Press with our granddaughter and partner. They were delighted, as we had expected they would be. Dishes are not small ! I needed help with my excellent pork meatballs with dill . The fish and chips is a sight to behold, falling off both sides of the plate. The wine list is interesting and not too expensive. We keep returning!

While staying in Cambridge, we were delighted by this pub. Very good quality of food as well as the quantity not to mention the staff, who was willing to give the best service. Needless is to say how mouthwatering the dessert was and how friendly the people were. Long story short, I highly recommend this pub to those who are visiting this amazing town. Dropped on by for lunch before our train in a convenient spot tucked away about 20 minutes walk to the station but close to the Grafton centre We ordered the crispy squid, the vegetarian scotch egg and as pictured the chicken kiev, whilst all the food was delicious the Kiev was an absolute winner and everyone who tried it commented as such. The beers are reasonably priced and they have a good range of draft ales. There is a good amount of outdoor seating with some sheltered in case of rain

Positives first, the food is excellent, and the food servers were excellent. Seafood broth was good, cheese Ploughman’s amazing, and beetroot croquettes were fantastic The beers are a little disappointing, 4 to 5 drab, Greene King style cask ales, then the usuals Guinness, a couple of lagers, and neck oil. Pretty uninspiring. Other pubs locally doing much more interesting beers. The wines however, were lovely, and very well priced. Service was a little hit and miss, exemplified by someone putting a double whiskey on our bill which we hadn’t authorised. Bar girl took it off immediately, which was good, but seemed surprised that us, as a couple dining alone, didn’t have an American chap orderi...

Had an absolutely fabulous meal here! I can’t wait to go back, and I want to try everything on the menu- but then I also want more roasts- so I’m now in a dilemma. The tomato chutney with the scotch eggs was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was homemade as well, where homemade desserts are usually an indicator of food quality for me. Also the food pricing is extremely fair. I’m not even a meat and potatoes person but it was SO GOOD. The vibe is great. We were in the snug, but I saw they had games in the main area as well as dog bowls in the garden. Edit: I’ve gone back and tried a special and another dessert.
