"The food was delicious, the flavours, textures and portions were perfect. I had the duck to start (run don't walk), the pork main (WOW) and the apple and treacle tart to finish. My partner and I both had the pork belly which was melt in the mouth good, the combination of flavours from the pumpkin, butternut squash and the sauce were heavenly. The service was exceptional, Olivia and Emily were friendly and checked in on us enough to know we were being looked after without intruding on our meal. It's a small restaurant (approx 7 tables), the atmosphere was the perfect blend of busy but not crowded, with compliments to the chef floating in the air. We'll definitely be booking in advance (you have to) the next time we come to Whitby. "We went here as it was chucking it down in Whitby and we needed somewhere dry. Very plesantly surprised that this small establishment packs such a foodie punch. The best ever Caesar salad I have had, so fresh, succulent chicken, crunchy croutons. Rest of the family were very happy the wrap my wife had looked superb. Coffees were also goood to finish. I'd go here again."

"Salad was very tired and wilted and needed to be replaced with fresh crisp salad leaves Bread was not fresh and was breaking up as we tried to eat our panini The filling was not what we are used to as when the previous owners were there the beckaninis were bursting at the seams We would have liked to finish on a nice slice of cake but the selection was minimal and sparse to say the least Not a single table check to enquire whether the food was ok and we were happy with our selection The dragon sausage was quite tangy and not what we’re used to Veggie bowl options on the menu but no bowl option for meat eaters Also far too many dogs allowed in at the same time in a relatively small space Quite disappointed to say the least and definitely crossed off the list for the future"

"Breakfast was ok, my partner's toast was untoasted, he asked for toasted toast and they only brought 1 slice, seemed a bit stingy to not replace both slices. The rest of his breakfast was good. I asked for 3 items from extras menu as I have dietary limitations, they charged me £11 and the scrambled egg wasn't good at all, bland and watery, I just hope it wasn't made with milk as I'd informed them I was lactose intolerant. When I queried the £11 charge they said they'd charged me for bread which I didn't have so did refund me £1.50. Staff were lovely and the place had a nice relaxed vibe. Probably a nice place for coffee and cake as the lattes were fine and the cakes looked nice, but from my experience expensive for the quality and portions."

"Having booked a table for 9.30 we arrived to be told the fryers had been turned off and we could only have main courses and only one special was available! The waitress was apologetic but our greeting from another member of staff was very luke warm. Clearly annoyed at having to serve us. Why take a booking if you don't want to serve at that time. Thankfully, what we did eat was delicious and the waitress did her best to cover up what was clearly an awkward situation....asked if we wanted pudding whilst still eating our main as they wanted to send staff home! Had we been a walk in, fair enough but we had booked. Lovely food but not a great experience!"
