"My room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed ie hairdryer, shower jel and tea and coffee). The bed was comfy a little soft for my personal taste but very comfy) with very good quality pillows. Normally in hotels I need an eye mask due to too much light, but here the room was nice and dark, giving me a good nights sleep. The hotel is on a main road which is noisey in the day but even though my room was facing the road it was quiet at night . It didn't effect my sleep. The bar area was nice with friendly staff. I was a bit disappointed by the choice of beers , in a countryside Inn I would have liked some local real ales. But I did have a nice pint if Timothy Taylor. I was disappointed that I stayed during a very wet British summer because the beer garden area looked stunning. Hopefully the sun will shine on my next visit. Evening meal in bistro lived up to the 2 AA rosettes . The wine was good quality and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and service is efficient. Although it's a nice small menu I was spoilt for choice . A good mix of traditional dishes and dishes with a nice modern twist. Plenty of fish and vegan options as well as steaks. One thing I don't like is when restaurants put a bit of paper on the plate under the fish and chips . I don't get why they do it, its not needed . Overall great stay . It deserves the AA stars."

My wife and I visit this restaurant for lunch a few times each month and we have never been disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a wide variety of options and the dishes we have tried have all been delicious.

We got married at the fleece on 30/12/22 and it was what dreams are made of. The wedding team were so helpful and accommodating. They made us feel like they wanted our day to be as perfect as we did. They brought to life all our plans. It was all we wanted and more.

We decided to treat ourselves on Bank Holiday Monday and both ordered the roast dinner, which was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent as well. The only downside was that I had looked at the menu online beforehand and was excited to try a specific dish, but found that the menu at the restaurant was much smaller. This could have been due to it being a bank holiday.

Very overpriced for underwhelming food. 4 of us visited on 24th March 2023. For the started 2 of the party ordered corned beef hast and 2 ordered ham hock both dishes were ok. Main corses 3 ordered lamb trio and one meat pie. The pie was absolutely fine. The trio of lamb was bland, gristly and nothing really on the plate. 3 bits of lamb and one sprig of broccoli no veg, no potatoes. £20 what extortionate for the portions . Totally disappointing and won't rush back.

Shocking service Terrible meal had to send sandwiches back as they were cold when they arrived when they were supposed to be hot pulled pork and melted cheese the cheese was still Cold and not melted!!!! When they came back from the kitchen it was obvious they had just been out in a microwave to warm up but they were still luke warm !! Needless to say we did not eat them! Shocking and we will Not be returning Very disappointed after going to the fleece for lunch for a good number of years!

Ordered a goats cheese and pesto sandwich which came with fries and a small bowl of soup. The fries were lovely, very crisp on outside and soft and fluffy in centre. Soup was mediocre. Sandwich was dreadful. Bread was thick and extremely dry and the goats cheese was cold and flavourless. After finding the sandwich virtually inedible and leaving most of it untouched on my plate I complained and they simply removed my drink from the bill. half a lager). A totally inadequate gesture considering I then had to pay £13 for my dry sandwich. Not happy!!!

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Fleece and it was the perfect venue. The beautiful views surrounding The Fleece provided a stunning backdrop for our photos. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of and that our day ran smoothly. A special thank you to Carrie-Anne and the events team for their hard work. The food was fantastic, especially the canapés. The rooms were cozy and our guests enjoyed their stay, particularly the bridal suite. Thank you to everyone at The Fleece for making our special day truly amazing. We highly recommend this venue to others.

We visited the pub for a supper during the snowy spell. Despite the weather and likelihood that there were fewer staff, we had a delicious meal and were served by friendly and accommodating staff. The Scotch egg was really delicious.....the egg was soft inside and the casing was very flavoursome. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and the meat was very tender and top quality. This is an interesting menu and isn't your usual pub grub and thought and time has gone into the execution of it. It is obvious that the staff are keen to please and committed to this business. Thank you very much. We will return. For sure.
