"During our recent visit to Ship Inn Wool, my partner and I encountered an unfortunate experience that compelled me to share our feedback. To our surprise, an unexpected charge of £4.50 for peppercorn sauce was added to both of our meals. This was not disclosed during the ordering process, nor was it mentioned on the menu. Transparency in pricing is crucial for customer satisfaction, and regrettably, this was lacking on this occasion. I attempted to address this issue with the manager on duty, but my initial efforts were in vain. Despite being told that the manager had visited our table, they remained elusive. This left us feeling even more frustrated. It was disappointing that the manager did not make themselves available to address our concerns during our visit. While we have always appreciated the quality of service and food at Ship Inn, this experience has left us feeling dissatisfied and has raised concerns about pricing transparency. I encourage the management to review their pricing policies and ensure that all additional charges are communicated clearly to customers at the time of ordering. This simple adjustment can greatly enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as an opportunity for improvement. We look forward to hearing from Ship Inn regarding this matter. The food we received was of a good standard so thank you to the kitchen staff for providing a good meal."

"We returned here for lunch with a friend after the Covid years! Last time I ordered ham , egg and chips with “Wessex ham”. My wife and her friend ordered fish and chips. I enjoyed the meal but the fish and chips looked marvellous and far better than I expected it to be. The fish were large and luscious . This time my wife ordered Hunters chicken and her friend and I ordered what my wife’s friend calls “whale and chips”. The menu at The Orchard is not large which I consider the sign of a good restaurant so I was surprised and disappointed to learn that The Hunter’s Chicken was unavailable even though it was only 12-30 . My wife ordered fish and chips. The fish and chip meals were not as impressive as on the last occasion although the fish was of decent quality. The batter looked good but was slightly undercooked in parts. Perhaps the oil temperature or frying time was different. We live in the Midlands and thought that £13 for fish and chips like this was just a bit steep.(Perhaps £10? Not moaning as poor folks in the south are used to being ripped off and when in Rome? “Life is full of disappointments” and I found myself regretting that I had not ordered the ham, egg and chips"

"Our room was spacious and beautiful. The owners and staff were friendly and the service was brilliant. Breakfast came with the room charge, you could have a cooked breakfast with a vegetarian option available and then help yourself to cereal and juice. We are dinner there one night and it was delicious and very reasonably prices , two courses for £16. I would highly recommend staying here and I would love to visit again in the future. Nearby activities: Its very close the the Tank Museum, Money world and the coast. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Great value"

"I dont know if theres new owners or change of ingredients but we have been having our takeaway curries from here for a couple of years. Never any complaints. Today it was awful! The sauce of the korma was nealy white, the chicken tikka masala was bland, no taste at all. The sauce wasnt as runny and creamy it was more thick and gloopy, and the chicken seemed cheaper and chewy. So dissapointed. We also ordered banana fritters and the batter used to be lovely light and crispy, this was heavy thick and not like a batter at all. Come on guys whats up ? Not like your normal standard at all. We actually feel sickly."
