"We had dinner here as a family. It was great! Very tasty food and a very nice team. Prices were reasonable. We have the GL beef burger (wth smoked bacon, melted cheese, gherkins, onion relish, mustard mayo, brioche bun chips), the Homemade Welsh beef lasagne (wth garlic bread mixed salad), the haddock (chilli coriander tempura haddock , sweet chilli dip) and the Thai Chicken Curry (Fragrant Thai green chicken curry, rice, popadom, mango chutney). Every single dish was delicious! No oversized portions. There was also a delicious Bluestone Ale, recommended by the waiter. Also very tasty! If it works out, we will most likely visit the restaurant a second time on our week long vacation. Definitely recommended! Food drinks: Every single dish was delicious!"

"I visited this property for an overnight stay with my girlfriend at the end of June 2023 The reception we received from Rebecca was warm and friendly, she was polite, attentive and very helpful throughout our stay The breakfast on the morning of our checkout was very good and the service prompt and professional The rest of our stay was not so good The room was showing signs of wear and tear Paint scratched, cup chipped, carpets stained and worn, door key label broken The walk in shower was broken as the hand shower had been removed and impossible to take a shower without full immersion under the main shower The bar wasn’t hugely busy but the staff were inattentive We waited to be served while three bar staff ignored us and went about various tasks a simple acknowledgement would have been fine The biggest disappointment was the food and service at dinner The manager was rude and unhelpful with no real understanding of the notion of service The food was for the most part pretty but poorly executed My smoked salmon was under brined and under smoked more akin to sashimi than smoked salmon My partner had the crab and cut the inside of her mouth on a large piece of shell overlooked in the preparation of the dish Her main course she told me was very nice My main course was the Hake the fish was tiny, (two very small mouthfuls!! overcooked and with an under-crisped skin This was served with a minuscule amount of samphire and a quater of a caramelised shallot in a very liquid sauce it was about a third of the size of my partners dish We had ordered a bottle of Chablis to go with our meal but this didn’t arrive And we weren’t asked if we wanted it until we were ready to pay!! Not once during our meal were we asked if everything was okay When I mentioned the fish dish to the waitress she said there had been many complaints previously about the size of this dish but that nothing had been done Very disappointing especially as we visited the place upon recommendation and based on the reviews of good food The whole place just smacks of “Style without substance” Good ideas just poorly executed Rooms: Worn and broken Food drinks: Food inadequate and lack of service in the bar and restaurant"

"Had an average panini bacon and Brie today. Quite easily could have made better at home. No effort in presentation and the accompanying coleslaw was tasteless and lots of water in the bottom of the small dish it was served in. Crisps we’re nice tho : Asked if there was changing facilities to change my 5 month old baby and was told there was a mat in the toilet and that I could change him on the floor in the toilet or on the toilet seat itself. Safety and hygiene was not considered by the staff member I spoke to. (Not 100% sure but seemed to be more in charge so possibly owner or manager, not very friendly person . Wasn’t welcomed or greeted when we entered or when we went up to order. Simple hello, how are you? Too much to ask. On a positive the lady who bought our food out to us was lovely and made time to speak to us all. Shame as the place itself was nice.l and was looking forward to a nice lunch and a matter with a friend. Have given one star as no stars wasn’t allowed."

"I really don’t like leaving a negative review, and I’m sorry for this, but the young guy behind the bar obviously didn’t want to be there, no smile, acknowledgment , welcome , hello , please ,thank you goodbye! Very rude!! I’m all fairness none of the staff were great, all pretending to look busy rather than serve , apart from the lady with blonde dreadlocks who was lovely. I’m not saying the food was bad , neither was it great, but personal choice,it just wasn’t for me it’s not what I’d call a traditional Sunday lunch the veg were too hard and the beef quite tough. I’d also say the bar/seating area could do with a good deep clean and a fresh lick of paint. So sad it has all that character, just missing the warmth."

"I visited this restaurant for some fish and chips and had a fantastic experience! The service, food quality, and portion sizes were excellent. We ordered two fish and chips, a large portion of onion rings (about 20 pieces), mushy peas, and two large tartar sauces, costing us £36. The cod was generously sized and lightly battered, and the thick chips were not greasy at all. There may have been too many onion rings, but they were delicious, along with the thick homemade tartar sauce. The portion of mushy peas was also substantial. In fact, one order of onion rings and mushy peas was more than enough for two people to share. I would definitely recommend this place!"
