"This secluded location is within the Princes Golf Club in Sandwich. Access is via a private road, where you need to tell nice man on gate that you are going to dine otherwise you are charged to enter the area. The road winds round the course and turns along the seafront of the English Channel at Sandwich Bay. Plenty of parking. The Brasserie is at the back of the building overlooking the golf course. We went on a Sunday for lunch which was either set menu or bar food. We went for the set menu at 17.50 for 2 courses or 23.50 for 3 courses. I had fresh mackerel to start which was very nice, followed by roast beef cooked to your taste, with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and veg. The portions are big so unfortunately we never got to the sweets. Staff were pleasant and efficient, surroundings are modern and there is a log burned which I guess is lit in winter. I would have no hesitation in going back and am sure I will a great experience an hidden gem! There hotel attached and the venue can be hired for weddings or special occasions."

We had an amazing dinner in the Brasserie while staying at the Lodge last week. The quail and shallot tartlet in particular was memorable. Fine dining indeed.

Met friends for lunch here last week. Had a great meal, friendly staff that nothing was to much trouble. We all went for the beef, it was very tasty, one of our ladies being a bit fussy but she loved it and we all cleared our plates. The lemon soufflé was to die for as was the chocolate fondant! It was a lovely leisurely lunch, Would deffinatley be back.

We used our gourmet card and were told we had to have the 3 course meal but they omitted to tell us we can only use the gourmet card on the main course even though it was a 3 course set menu. They therefore charged us for dessert and starter. We have never experienced this before after 10 years of using the Gourmet Club card and felt cheated.I had the cheese as dessert and it was so dry it was inedible.

The Brasserie on the Bay has splendid service; a wide variety of ales, lagers, and beers; and a delightful assortment of entrees for dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed and low key and the views of the nearby English Channel were remarkable. The food was delicious, the service was quick, and the prices were quite fair. If you play golf in Sandwich and you stay at The Lodge at Princes Golf Club, stay there for dinner. It's simply a relaxed and delightful setting for any meal.

We have been here a number of times and I cannot fault any aspect of it. The food is wonderful, the service excellent and the surrounding area magnificent.Although the Brasserie is not easy to find it will really be worthwhile when you arrive. You need to go through a toll, but if you are going to the Brasserie on the Bay you will not have to pay. There is a 2 or 3 course lunch menu which is very reasonably priced, and although the drinks are fairly expensive you can purchase a bottle of wine from about £18. As a vegetarian I don't often find an interesting choice on menus but this place is the exception. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This is the first time we've eaten at The Lodge. The Brasserie wasn't open for the evening meal when we went at 5 pm, so we ate at the adjacent Bar. Attentive service. Comfortably posh surroundings. Nice views of the Green, with golfers passing by. Food was excellent, from the fish and chips which my friend ate, to the sea bass which I ate. Desert was excellent. We will definitely return.Note: You have to drive through Sandwich Bay Estates to get to The Lodge. At the entrance to the Estates is a manned toll gate. Just tell the attendant, if he is there, that you are going to The Lodge to eat, and he will let you through without paying the usual fee.

I took a party of 11 golfers for a private dinner at The Brasserie on the Bay and was fortunate to be looked after by a delightful girl studying at St Andrews University. The staff had sent a menu in advance and so all courses had been pre-booked. Great that there were no errors but the system of allocating selections to each person worked well for our 70+ age group. Starters all good but the main courses were outstanding, especially rump of Romney Marsh lamb, gnocchi, pan roasted grey mullet and the star of the night, an incredible chateaubriand. The beef was medium rare as requested, very tender and served in huge quantities. This was a very good meal and everyone also enjoyed their Full E...
