had a great meal in the black buoy! last time we visited wivenhoe this place was closed. it had a fantastic makeover and we will definitely get fair winds again, so we sailed here! would recommend both eating and the very friendly and helpful staff :

Brilliant food, Friendly staff, very busy on a sunday afternoon but we didn't wait long for our food and it was wonderful! I can recccomend the nut roast! Usually good veggie options and great choice of beers. Peter Watts wine is also fantastic! we found a cosy by the fire.

I have been here numerous times and always leave with a smile on my face. The staff are always friendly, helpful and happy to answer any questions you have about their food or beer. The food is never a disappointment and good value for your money. Can't wait till next time�

we had yesterday a really nice lunch for my mother birthday. and realized after we left, they had my moms meal from the bill as 'birthday eating' such a beautiful thing to do! and they with a complementary chocolate pudding with a candle! really nice service and fab eating as always! thank you.

visit this charming pub/restaurant in the picturesque wivenhoe. honored by beautiful smell of wood burning and indeed a real fire! it was busy on a weekday lunch trip to the delicious food - we had fish n chips wonderfully crispy teig and chips. proper puddings treacle tart with whips from custard! can not wait to go back.

an amazing pub for every occasion, eating is amazing and 100% worth a visit to taste the sunday roast or a midday sweetheart always delightful. as for the beer, it is with ever changing selection of some great ales and also some classic lagers like the curious brew on tap up to date. if they ever in wivenhoe it is worth taking the time to sit on open fire and take it all in while they drink a classic al.
