"We were staying near Banbury for our honeymoon and The Bell Inn was recommend to us by the owners of our B&B. We had a look online and found the small but very tasty looking menu. We personally prefer a smaller menu as it makes...choosing (a little) easier, but it also means each dish is made fresh with very much care and attention. Entering the pub we were greeted by the friendly bar man who showed us our seats. He took our drinks order shortly followed by our food order. He was lovely mannered and efficient. We were also served by a lovey lady who could not do enough for us. We started with calamari and baked mushrooms. Oh my goodness! They were both immense! I can honestly say I have never tasted calamari like it and I have rated it abroad. My husband’s mushrooms just melted in your mouth. Both dishes presented ever so well. I could have happily had the calamari as a main. As mains, I had the burger and my husband had fish and chips. The batter on the fish was perfectly crispy leaving tender white, tasty fish within it. The chips were also spot on, crispy but fluffy potato inside. The dish came with homemade tartare sauce which was completely out of this world. The burger was cooked and put together perfectly inside a brioche bun, with cheese, lettuce, tomato and gherkins. Served with skinny fries and delicious homemade coleslaw. It’s been a long time since I have had such an amazingly tasty burger in a restaurant before. Even though we were full to bursting we really wanted to try the Eton mess, so we shared one. We were not disappointed, it was wonderfully presented and tasted just as Eton mess should. We really wish we could have met the chef and shook his hand. The Bell inn really is a little gem. A traditional pub with amazing food and fantastic staff. If you’re in the area do drop in for a drink or even book a table and taste their wonderful food."

We had a lovely post lockdown family meal, all three courses were of a very high standard and tasted delicious. We can’t wait to rerun.

Really wonderful people with which we had a fun time eating and talking to, as well as great service at which they went the extra mile to feed and look after our family-even the dogs! Definitely recommend a drink or a delicious meal here

I wrote a longer review but it disappeared. The ribs were fabulous! Can’t recommend this pub enough for the welcome, service amazing ribs, Asian slaw fries. The Biscoff cheesecake was delicious too! Definitely worth the drive out to Shenington.

Popped in post covid lockdown. Booking essential, but was easy. The food was excellent both in taste and value. And there is the option for takeaway whilst covid restrictions are in place. We are in the area once a month and will certainly be back. Voir le carte

The Bell is a charming characterful Inn, located in the impossibly pretty village of Shenington. Inside is cosy quaint, outside there is a beer garden plus tables out front. We dined inside tables were well spaced Covid security strictly followed. Staff...were all absolutely superb so friendly helpful. The menu is concise food was pretty good. Delicious wines by the glass.

Have been here on quite a few occasions and, with the limited menu, thought a Sunday lunch would be our best bet. Service has always been on the slow side with a very young staff but they are always pleasant. However, today wasn't a success....The flavour of the roasts were very nice but the meat and vegetables were so undercooked it was an effort to cut through them. Such a shame.

We went to this pub because it was a second walk from our Airbnb but we were so lucky that the proximity was not the biggest perk...! The food was really tasty and the customer service was superb. The icing on the cake (or...bun.. however, occurred the day after our visit. We had forgotten to buy burger buns for our grill and since there was no shop within walking distance we went and asked if we could buy some off the pub. The very likeable Scottish proprietor donated us ten beautiful buns. Excellent establishments on all accounts! Voir le carte

Friends took us to their local pub for Sunday lunch after a long dog walk. They had booked a table for so a late lunch! You might have been forgiven to think what will be left on the meat side for the roasts but...I was pleasantly surprised there was a wide choice of other meals on the menu too. Having said that, the men chose Roast Pork and my friend and I had the haddock and chips. All I can say is that both meals well exceeded expectations. Hard to explain but all I can say is please give this chef a try. He knows how to purchase fresh quality produce and also how to deliver the most sumptuous meal, we just could not fault. So much so, I am taking the time to right this. Just wish we coul...

Although I’m a foodie, this is the first review I have left for a restaurant and I’m happy it’s for this place. The food is simply The owner and head chef is a down to earth, humble incredible chef. Friendly, accommodating with great customer...service. The menu is packed with great dishes, produced from daily fresh produce which is locally sourced. Everything we ordered we were blown away by. I often eat out in London and this place can mix it with the best of them when it comes to food being cooked to perfection. The calamari we ordered literally melted in your mouth, the meat on the full rack of ribs simply fell of the bone and the chicken kebab was seasoned and cooked perfectly accompani...

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."
