"We had been hunting around for a alternative location for a superb cream tea after reading that Chessel Pottery has gone very much downhill and no longer makes the cream teas it was famous for. Lady Scarlett’s has an incredible record of top scores, which we’re now extremely suspicious of. We phoned ahead to check for availability and although the person on the phone wasn’t rude, they made us feel we’d possibly made a bad choice with their attitude on the phone. You can’t judge a book by its cover, but when we arrived at the place, we wondered if it was really the right place. Sadly it was. Not very inviting and seemed a bit too rough around the edges, despite the ‘World War period’ theme. When we entered, a grumpy man (possibly the owner) was there observing people coming in, although very few people were coming in (a big sign of bad things). When we mentioned issues parking, he told us that there’s lots of parking in Newport. This location is nowhere near that, so we assume we were being told to go elsewhere if we didn’t like it! Lovely! The place was empty whilst others were full, so there’s a hint! We left without ordering anything. An unpleasant experience."

"Crave is fabulous. You can taste any flavours before deciding which ice cream you want. Flavours are ever-changing. They make the ice cream at the back of the shop and you can see them through a large glass window area. They also sell tubs to customers for their home freezers. They make the most amazing flavours, that look so appetising the way they decorate them in the display freezer."

"Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend."

"I absolutely loved this restaurant! It offers authentic Italian cuisine and a wonderful atmosphere. The food was amazing—we enjoyed a charcuterie board, pasta, and fish! The owner was incredibly friendly as well. There are plenty of options available for those with gluten allergies, making it a great choice for celiacs. Service was excellent, and we dined in for dinner. The price per person was around £20–30. Highly recommend!"

"I booked this restaurant for 3 people however there was another table of 6 people in there that was part of our group so 9 all together. We overall enjoyed our meals with an exception of 3 who ordered sweet and sour chicken. It wasn't explained to them that the meal they ordered only came with a dipping sauce. All 3 thought the sauce was blend. When we came to pay my friend asked why there was no veg (onions, pepper etc) in the sauce to be told oh you should of ordered Cantonese style sweet and sour. I'd like to offer some advice to the restaurant. Take a minute and explain that the guest may have ordered the wrong item from the menu. It would definitely ensure the guest got the correct item and therefore ensuring returning guests. One final comment. If asked would you like everything to come out together that means you will get your starter and mains together so make sure you say no thank you we'll have our starters first.
