"Our experience with this property is one of utter disgust. My main issue is due to the lies that have been told since requesting a full refund as we felt we could not sleep at the property due to the fumes of gloss paint. Whilst...watching a film the smell caused me to have a headache and feel sick. When reporting this and asking for an alternative room the person who I dealt with, who seemed to be in charge on that evening said ‘I cannot do anything about the paint’ I thought this was in itself quite patronising as of course she couldn’t but I said we should have been pre warned and we were not. I am asthmatic also. When we first got to our room, we had to call the same lady up to our room to sort the tv as this was not working and also pointed out to her that a floor tile on the bathroom was broken and we had had to place a towel over the tile to save our feet and our dogs as this was sharp. She sorted the tv, but she seemed to be aware of the tile, which to be honest wasn’t great but small issue so we stayed. We only left due to the paint smell. My husband was advised to contact booking.com as I was looking for a refund as we could not stay overnight. Booking.com spoke with the property and to our complete shock they said we were pre warned about the paint ! This is absolutely rubbish as we were not. Furthermore, it was said that my husband has said we were happy with the room, not really as we had already complained about the TV and the tile so no not 100 happy. If, the property had come back with an apology or any empathy etc and offered a part refund I probably would have accepted but they have refused a refund at all and lied to say we had been told about the paint. Furthermore, contradicted themselves, when speaking with Steph who works in the property to say she wasn’t aware the property had been painted so, if that’s the case why would they have pre warned us. Within my profession I understand all about customer service and the way this property has acted is disgusting. To completely lie is outrageous and I am very shocked ! Also when asking who I would need to send an email to to write a complaint Steph would only provide me with a first name, Beth and refused to provide me with her second name and email address! I will continue to pursue this matter and now even more so because of the barefaced lies. Such a shame as really needed to get away to relax. Food was lovely but very patronising staff and liars too. The whole point of an overnight stay, weekend stay is to be able relax. I wasn’t able to due to the gloss smell."

The food offering was a cut above the rest, and good value for money. The 2 girls working the bar,(Leeanne, and Andene,) where excellent at the hospitality business. And, quite important, the Pub is open 7 days a week, quite rare in this neck of...the woods!

Owner very welcoming. Lovely as also dog friendly. One of our best meals. Husband had a freshly made steak and ale pie, and mushroom and walnut tagliatelle for me. Both very delicious and excellent value for money. Would highly recommend. Very convenient location for narrow...boaters as mooring very close by.

on May 3rd I visited the barge inn to lunch. it was okay and I left. today I received a fine of 60 for the use of the parking lot. I didn't see any signs for the parking lot, but I must admit that I didn't look for a sign because I never paid for the parking service in my 76 years. I couldn't turn to the barge inn or the parking company. I would never visit the pub again and warn all my friends. the personal would have warned me that the parking lot was draconian.

The food looked and tasted like it was the afternoon left overs warmed up. 3 of us ate there, mine was egg and chips (should have been ham but do not eat meat) an extra egg was put on my plate, all were dried up...tasted rubbery with hard yolk, the chips tasted refried. The burger my granddaughter could not eat, and the pork belly my husband said was all fat and the rice was cold. Did not complain as staff member was really nice but would not recommend eating there

we were on our first mooring and this beautiful place was in the far away and was just the most convenient place to eat on the first night while on our sally narrowboat. we don't really know how timings from anywhere through...Barge, but they found us a table and service was very fast. it was very lively and while we were entertained by a live group. eating was very nice and exactly what we needed after a busy first dat on the canal. we always like hot food and we are not disappointed, my favourite sink and chips was delicious and we all enjoyed our meal. if it is designed along the east in direction that we recommend a stop here.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
