"You are slightly trapped here. Being at the spa you are not going to want to disappear off site to a local gig so there is a feeling that they have you at their mercy . My starter was the special of salt cod croquettes. Really lacking in the salt cod department and heavily over dosed in the potato section. Only 2 on the plate and small at that so disappointing. Mains was the duck breast with a caponata of vegetables.the portion was quite miserly (I suspect they achieved 3 portions out of one breast) and the vegetables bland and lacking any identity apart from their colour i.e. the carrot being orange. The ndujar Calabar dressing was split which perhaps it was supposed to be but the unforgiving element is that it had absolutely no taste at all. It gave zero to the dish. I informed the waitress that whilst the duck was succulent and well cooked, I could not praise the dish this was in response to the rehearsed is everything okay? I was given a sympathetic response and a glib I will pass that on to the chef but i absolutely felt that was not going to happen. I would quite like to have ordered the chocolate fondant dessert but as the dessert menu came after we had eaten mains and it carried a 20 minute wait warning we passed why not highlight that up front as many good restaurants do so you can make that decision ahead? In summary, I would not bother eating in the restaurant if I went there again. I would make the trip out to a local pub which would be at a fraction of the cost I suspect. Also, it was cold in the restaurant area and it is a noisy space."

Because of my health problems and also being vegan there wasn’t much I could eat.so I ordered from the sides but couldn’t eat much of it as it was covered in oil.

We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast here and each was very good. Very tasty lunch on the terrace. Evening meal was gorgeous and well presented with great service. Breakfast was buffet style with everything you could want.

We had the most delicious meal here. I'm a fussy eater but the menu was great, very clear. The waitress was lovely nothing too much trouble. We asked for some garlic warm butter for our bread and the chief welcomly produced it instantly.

I visited with some girlfriends for a spa day and lunch. Food was lovely although the menu is quite limited. Service second to none, Monica was very friendly and attentive and kept our drinks topped up. We had a lovely, enjoyable afternoon in the sun on the terrace. Beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere.

Food was really fantastic and the staff were kind and helpful, ensuring that we had a nice table by the window (all tables have a nice view). My only criticism would be that, whilst delicious, the vegan options were not especially nourising (e.g. a main of pepper stuffed with vegetables). One slightly odd feature is the big grey curtains at the back of the room to screen off the service areas, which make it feel like an airliner. Voir le carte

My husband and I stayed at the lifehouse spa and hotel and had dinner in the restaurant! The menu is rather limited for a large “supposedly”4 star hotel so we both struggled to find something we liked for our 3 course dinner! However our 3 courses were good and the young waitresses very friendly! The 4 slices of bread I got upon asking were £4.50 and the two slices of sourdough bread were dry and tasteless too!As said for a large hotel it would have been nice to be offered a more extensive menu and not just a few Italian dishes to choose from!I would have given a rating of good ,for the limited choice on offer, but you can only rate average or very good!

Visited yesterday and there was four of us, one of whom had never had afternoon tea before so it was quite a treat. Pleasantly suprised as the food was excellent. The sandwiches where lovely using really nice granary bread and there was Salmon, Ham, Egg and Cucumber with a dill butter/cream cheese. Very nice. We all received our own cup of tea or coffee. The scones where served warm and there was also a nice selection of mini cakes on the top row (mini eclair, millionaires slice, buttercream fairy cake etc. I was so full I couldn't eat the top row. The service was efficient but you do need to make yourself know to a staff member if you need further assistance as once served, they did not com...

"We came as a group of 10 for my Mother in Laws 60th birthday, and I must say it was a shambles. Please let me say, that we have been many times prior to this and have had excellent food and fantastic service, so not sure what has happened. Firstly, my Father in Law had to pay a deposit for 12 of us, which was absolutely fine, however, one of those was for a baby who would not have been eating. Unfortunately the mother and baby were unable to attend due to illness, so we lost £10 of the deposit. I would like to Firstly ask, why was we charged for a baby, who was never going to be eating? Secondly, we asked for a pitcher of beer, and when this was served, we were given 3 (out of 4) of the most dirtiest glasses. The beer from previous drinkers was still in the bottom, hence the staining of brown at the bottom of the glass. This is totally unacceptable, and this could actually cause serious health issues to people drinking from them. The waitress brought the first two starters out, prawn cocktails, and dumped it infront of a parson who didn 't even order it, and even after we told her who they were for, just left it there.....would you not have picked this up and actually served it to the correct person? The prawn cocktails came out on a slate and as much as this was very nicely presented, knowing that someone with only the use of one arm had ordered this, it would have been a better option to put this on a plate, so food could be scraped to the edge of the plate and picked up. Rather than a husband having to put his fork up against his wife 's and juggle getting the food on. That 's just a food for thought, incase you have anyone else in this position in the future. We then had the mains served. Out of the 10 orders, were four full racks of ribs. One of these came out as a half. We asked the waitress if this was correct and she said, sorry, she would get the other half out. This came out AFTER the person had finsihed their dinner, which meant they had to take this away in a take away box. Seemed like there was no urgency to correct the error immediately. The burgers, I am sorry to say, are an actual joke. The burgers themselves looked like the small ones you get from Iceland. But yet, are being charged at nearly £14. That was shocking. The chips, were edible, but burnt. And again, please think about putting it on a plate (or atleast asking the person eating it what they would prefer) and not a wooden chopping board. A chopping board is for chopping after all...... We then asked for our cake to come out, so we could sing happy birthday and blow the candles out. We got told yes no problem, but you will be charged £2 per person for eating there at no point had we mentioned we wanted to eat it there and had actually already mentioned this prior to handing over the cake. We opted not to have a dessert as we felt quite deflated to be honest. When the bill came out, I asked if the 3 for 2 drinks had been deducted and she said no, thats only Friday 's . I think you need to make that clearer on your menu, as it just states Monday... Tuesday...etc and the Friday 's. But your drinks deal just says Evenings you need to amend that to specifically say Friday evenings as it is in fact false advertisement on your part. The bill came up, minus the £50 deposit (still baffled why you charged £5 for a baby) and to my surprise a £27 service charge. I asked for this to be removed, as I find this quite shocking to put on any bill. A service charge is not a given, it is a discretion by those who are paying. You cannot expect anyone to pay a service charge if they feel the service has not been up to scratch. As I previously said above, we have been here multiple times before and always had great service and exceptional food. Last night, just was not the same. It is a shame, as we come here for birthdays and we will be thinking twice now, due to the above."
