"Thai on Thames WAS the best Thai restaurant we 've ever visited, superb. Sadly it 's now CLOSED and has reopened at the same address under new management, under the name Thai on Theme who on Facebook are still using the Thai on Thames website, including a link to the now defunct Thai on Thames menus and not their new menu which is very much smaller with less choice! Went to Thai on Theme last week. When booking was told it was still Thai on Thames but with a 'new menu '! Waited 50 minutes for a spring roll starter, they 'd run out of Sauvignon Blanc and ice buckets. When the food did arrive it was good, but such limited choice for vegetarians. Very friendly service, who were coming in for a lot of criticism over the wait time for food. They 've only been open a few weeks under the new name, so the jury is out! Will revisit, in spite of the small choice for vegetarians (and is Sweet and Sour really Thai?! but if the same delay in getting food, it 'll be struck off the list for good. Come back Thai on Thames, you were the best ever!!!"

We had four different main dishes and they were all absolutely delicious. Really nice people and nice atmosphere.

Probably the best pad Thai I’ve had in the area. Amazing flavors and a huge portion to! The staff were also friendly.

Awesome Thai food (one of the best) with incredible service. They go out of their way every time to please guests. Was an accidental find but now has become our weekend ritual!

Visited with a friend on a Monday night. It was empty inside but the lady was really welcoming and assured us we were not keeping them open. The chef came out to discuss vegan options. My friend had lamb and it was so tender. Food was beautiful. If we are in the area we would definitely visit again. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

I was surprised to find this restaurant was under new management since my last visit, we have been regulars for may years. We went for lunch, the lunch menu was smaller with less variety than under the previous owners, the price was similar, the portion was a bit larger but didn't include drinks. The dishes we ordered were pretty resonable and the serving staff were very friendly.

A modest little Thai restaurant in London Road, particularly popular at lunchtime. It's not an establishment that shouts about itself, but it quietly serves up the basics and the expected in a steady, dependable way.The quality of cooking far exceeds the rather bland exterior.A classic Thai green chicken curry is £8.25, while Pad Thai chicken stir-fry is £8.95.Starters range from £4.50 to £9.Recommended.

This used to be a favourite, but sadly its rather gone down hill, since changing hands. Food was beautifully presented but not as good as it used to be. The floor had a presumably been flooded and was bulging up in the middle, sticky tables and dark as most of the lights were off. Meal was interrupt by takeaway couriers every couple of minutes. Shame as it was really good a few years ago. I doubt I'll be visiting again.

We ate here Saturday evening. Early indicators were not good the place was nearly empty but no matter the service and the food were exceptional from start ti finish. We have both ate Thai before so felt confident to order but when asked for guidance the waitress could not have been more helpful. The food was of the highest order. Each dish beautifully prepped and served. Lovely clean taste and just enough heat to make it a truly delicious experience. Attentive throughout but not fussy the waitress made sure we had enough drink and everything was ok. It may be a little way from the main food areas (which seem to closer to the River) please do try. It would sad to think this is being passed ove...

We were in London for just a couple of days, and wanted to visit Kingston for family reasons. We found ourselves wandering around the area by the train station, and discovered London Road quite by accident. It was after 7 on a Saturday evening, and after a full day of siteseeing we were famished. I asked my 16 year old daughter to pick a place to eat. As we walked down the road, it felt deserted, and we were afraid we wouldn 't find anything. Then out of nowhere she says Oh look! Thai food! I love Thai food! (I will admit, this was a surprise to me. So we went in ... It was amazing. As other reviews have said, it is nice inside, but not overly fussy. The waitress was so sweet, and helpful. I...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
