"Called in by chance as caught in a rain shower. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. While drinks appeared our host explained that although the menu was in German and Spanish, she would translate into English for us if needed. We chose a mixed salad starter between the two of us, which was fresh and flavoursome. Enchilada and pork steak followed as mains. Being a Columbian restaurant, there were many subtle differences between it and standard spanish fare. I especially enjoyed the sweet yellow plantain, fried beans and fried egg served with my steak. We were both stuffed. The food is well above average, both in quality and quantity. Our best meal in Hamburg by some distance."

The food was really great. After living in Medellin Colombia for some years it was really nice to have some typical food. Recommended.

They don't take Visa or Credit cards - nearly embarrassed but did have enough cash - just. Having said that, tremendous food, very good service. Some food dishes new to me. Generous helpings, 70 euro for three ppl, including beer etc.

Went here mainly as near Motel One where I stayed the night. Food was fine, service was exceptionally slow considering I was a table of one! Good job I wasn't in a hurry. I don't know Hamburg well but I'm sure there must be better in the vicinity Voir le carte

surprised by the negative reviews--we had delicious food and fine service! i had arroz con pollo (rice, chicken, vegetables, and fries, and my partner Pabellón Criollo which is pulled beef with black beans, plantains, rice--delicious--i kept stealing bites. we were very very happy with our meal.

I have try Colombian food abroad, but never as good as here. really tasty, fresh, and the Bandeja Paisa is enough for 2 people. The chef is Colombian and his wife is German, both very very friendly and nice. I definitily will come back soon. The prices are a bit expensive, even for Hamburg standards (€25 for one main dish, 1 soda and a small coffee) but for me it worth it.

I went on the final between Germany and Argentina, it was busy but not like you could not walk between the tables. We were on the door waiting for requesting a table for 10 minutes, after a while we decided to seat, it was enough empty tables... Once seated we called the waitress like 6 times entschuldigen Sie bitte when she was closed, she didnt even look at us... Just to clarifly we are not invisible man and gf... so she just didnt want to service us! terrible, i will never come back!

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
