"We decided to go to the Nelson Butt for Sunday Lunch for my birthday. There were 11 of us plus a high chair and we had their function room to ourselves, which was great as the toddler in the party could roam free and not get out of the room. The waitresses were excellent and not confused by our random way of ordering. We had starters and everyone chose either brie or pate, both came with salad and chutney and toast with the pate. For the main everyone had either pork or beef, both were very nice. also on the plate were roast potatoes and a yorkie. There was a side platter with fresh carrots, cauli, broccoli and mash. Then we had puddings and coffee. We all enjoyed the food and would definitely return for Sunday lunch again. Thank you for a lovely birthday meal."

"Great find and great pub. The Sunday lunch was highly recommended by a few people and although it took us a while to get to visit it was well worth the wait! "Canot fault the food, which was excellent. The antipasti was nicely presented and the smokey meatballs were tasty, as was my wife's cannelloni. Th services was very poor, despite the restaurant not being busy. After we finished the main course we waited for nearly 20 minutes before I eventually had to find the waitress to cleasr the table and order dessert. Pity that some retaurants do not seem to understand the importance of good service, which is part of the dining experience, and that poor service can spoil an otherwise good meal."

"We had booked into the Red Lion and all seven of use were really pleased with our selection,First of all the owner really made us welcome and gave us a great rundown on the history of the pub,The hotel is spotless and each room is an individua experience and not a corporate mass produced layout.We had 4 of the rooms and they were all perfect and were VERY well equipped, we wanted for nothing,The food was exceptional with a wide selection to choose from. [We had the breakfasts and the evening meals and we were pleased that we did so,The garden area was a real bonus,All of the staff were so friendly but we must say a special word about Crumble the hotel dog who is the loveliest animal we have ever met, a real joy.All seven of us recommend this hotel and were extremally grateful to everyone for a very pleasant weekend.We will be visiting the Red Lion again..... Perfection."

"Do not go here! I had a takeaway tonight and it was absolutely awful. The chips were cooked but hard, my prawn balls were cold and the sweet and sour pork tasted like off fish. I rang up and complained and she asked me to bring it back and I would get a refund. However, because I had tried some of the food she wouldn’t give me a full refund. She had an extremely bad attitude. I never complain about anything but this food was so so so bad! Restaurant was empty on a Saturday night which wasn’t a good sign at all. Staff are extremely rude and genuinely don’t care. I’m not sure how this place is still open??"
