"First time visit to celebrate a birthday. Once we had worked out the car park height restriction and where to get into the restaurant we found staff to be warm and welcoming and very attentive. We had chicken liver parfait to start which was lovely although the brioche toast was tasty but very crumbly. Roast lamb and roast beef for mains as it was Sunday. Meats were nicely cooked. A huge Yorkshire pudding and a good selection of veg. Our only quibble was the roast potatoes more like a baked potato that had perhaps been roasted a little and then kept for a while. Other veg were fine. Desserts sticky toffee was delicious and cheese selection very good. A couple of pints and a glass of wine brought the bill to £84. Nice atmosphere decor was more Hotel than restaurant. Would recommend but would try other dishes next time ."

Stayed in the hotel over the last few months and generally ate 'in ' at least once/week which is unusual for me as I tend to go out to eat. Food here was really good and consistent though and staff very friendly.

The Stables was amazing when staying at Manor House. The evening and breakfast quality was really very good. A lovely Sunday roast and puddings, definatly a 5 star. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Lovely array of drinks.

We had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant while staying at the Manor House Hotel and spa. The food was impeccable and the service during dinner was excellent - friendly and attentive. The menu had a good variety of options to choose from. The restaurant itself was lovely and definitely worth a visit.

We were a table of 8 and non of us could fault the food. All the dishes were of excellent quality. The staff were very friendly and service was a little slow which was surprising as it was very quiet but it did not detract from the meal. It was quite expensive but where food is concerned I believe it is the quality of the produce used and a good chef that counts. We will definitely be returning. Voir le carte

We reserved the Christmas afternoon tea, which overall was enjoyable but the service was lacking in attentiveness. Initially, we had to request spoons, then more milk and additional tea and coffee. We were not asked about the food at any point. The fire was allowed to go out, leading to a cold atmosphere. The bill was given to us, but no one returned with the card machine, so we had to go to the bar to pay. I am uncertain if I will return in the future.

Friendly welcome here and excellent service throughout. Bit of a false start when one of us received bacon on what we thought was a vegetarian Asparagus starter. At first we thought it was our mistake but our waitress, Holly, was honest enough to admit that the menu was incorrect. The dish was remade without hesitation. My food was exceptional. Poached cod then the shrimp pasta, an excellent dish. A really good organic Montepulciano Nero D'Avola for £26, good value. Voir le carte

Really great meal at the Stables with two friends. Great choice of starters and mains. Can highly recommend the Burrata with heritage tomatoes, the duck pate and the fritamisto were both excellent. Fish and chips for main for me which was fresh and well cooked, wife had a chicken supreme. Service was really top class . We have eaten here many times over the years and when it changed hands we felt it had lost its edge. However, this restaurant has really got its mojo back and is really well worth a visit . You can eat in the really nice bar or upstairs .

We went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch this week. The food was delicious, as always, and the quality was fantastic. The restaurant was very warm to the point where the staff were trying to open more windows. Thank you, Michelle, for your efforts in addressing this issue. Unfortunately, the service was not up to par. We were speaking to two staff members who walked away mid-conversation. Our table had a drink spilled on it and there were several unused glasses and cutlery left, making it feel crowded. When we asked about one of our sides, a manager approached us in a aggressive manner, so we chose not to pursue the matter further.

"I’ve never been before, we came yesterday for family dinner looking forward to a roast lunch dinner. The menu only had a choice of lamb or beef, not liking beef the choice for me was lamb. Within minutes a lady came to advise the lamb “had just sold out” I said I didn’t like beef but no other option was given and I therefore had to have the beef. The meal arrived the Yorkshire’s were not risen and burned. The vegetables were very nice the beef was shaped like a block mine was dry and over cooked. My husband had poured gravy all over his so he couldn’t tell but I don’t like a lot of gravy on my food and I could tell I gave my beef to him. We ordered a burger/cheese/bacon meal for our 12 year old, I made it really clear to the young girl to plead only out cheese/bacon/burger on and no healthy stuff no onions nothing she laughed and said she has a brother who is the same so understands we ordered the adult version as it said the children’s was for 10 years and under. My sons burger arrived with a load of crispy onions lettuce and tomatoes everything we had asked NOT to be added, I took the food off but he wouldn’t touch it having seen the salad was on it! After eating my main it was a massive disappointment to see the man behind us being served a roast lamb dinner when I was told it had all sold out!!!! I had ordered fruit crumble this was a massive portion in a bowl the crumble topping was nice but the fruit underneath tasted like melted jam rather than just gently cooked fresh fruit there was more fruit sauce than fruit making it quite sloppy I had a couple of mouthfuls and left it."
