From the atmosphere to the service this is by far the best eating experience I had while staying in Amberg. It is a bit more expensive than most restaurants in the area but well worth it. It would be a great place to celebrate an anniversary or take someone special.

This is my favorite restaurant in Amberg. This hidden gem of a restaurant has this imitate modern design with inside and outside dining. I love that they feature theme menus throughout the year. Seafood week, pasta week, etc. Their homemade truffles are to die for! You have to also dine there for brunch as well. Super delicious!

After eating several nights of real German food, it was so pleasant to eat somewhere that took some liberties with typical German cuisine. Great wine pairings and an outstanding job was done on the cooking of all proteins served. The sauces were also amazing. Will definitely be back. Really perfect for a business meal or date if looking to impress.

We had a day visit to Amberg. At time Schon-Kilian was the top choice at Tripadvisor. Contrary to the rating and compliments, our lunch quality did not impress as much as the other contributors. Besides us no one eating there. The bread, soup and risotto were fine. But the pork chop was rough. I am sorry for that. Perhaps, dinner is served at a much higher level. But ours was a day trip and lunch was the only possibility.

Very delicious, thoughtful, and creative dishes that differ from almost any other place in town. It's also one of the more expensive places in town, though we thought it was worth it. Although there are many tasty options in Amberg, most are traditional German food or takes on already successful recipes. A nicely appointed interior and friendly, helpful staff make than a nice, unpretentious place to enjoy an excellent meal. I've heard they serve an excellent breakfast as well, but we haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.

We visited Schon Kilian because we have found it at Michelin guide as ‘Bib Gourmand’ tip. We stop there for early dinner around 5pm. It was at Tuesday and restaurant was completely empty which wasn’t good for atmosphere. But even at this situation service was perfect and fast. Waiter helped us to translate menu to English and gave us some recommendations. Cold cucumber soup with Jacob‘s mussel was awesome. Main dish (risotto) was ok. Dessert was also excellent – double creme brulee, one traditional vanilla one and second orange one. Local recommended wine was ok. If you are travel around it’s worth to stop there for lunch/dinner.

We passed this place almost every day walking from our hotel to the city center but did not know what it was as it is set back from the street in a little courtyard in the building. One night we entered the courtyard and decided to stop for dinner there as it was getting a bit late. We sat down around 8:15 for dinner. We were the only ones there at the restaurant, and we got the impression that they were getting ready to close. The waitress was polite, but seemed put out when we made a change to our wine order. Food was decent, not great, but the atmosphere in the little courtyard was quite pleasant at the end of the day. Overall ok, but probably would not return.

Visited Schon Killian for the 6th time and loved it like every other time. The chef is amazing and the service is excellent especially Matthew. The menu is German but the waiter will be kind enough to explain the different offerings in english. I recommend trying an aperitif combination of champagne and flower syrup. The menu changes periodically and today we were delighted to dine during fish week. We ordered fish soup and a spring roll on a bed of wakame seaweed for an appetizer. For the main course my wife ordered monk fish with gnocchi and Mediterranean grilled vegetables. I ordered sword fish on a bed of risotto with white and green asparagus. For dessert we had a very tasty creme brûlé...
