"Four of us ate here on a Friday night. We pre booked, strongly advised as the restaurant was busy. Nice menu with lots of dishes to choose from. Also a few choices of non Nepalese food available. We had a choice of starters, samosas, dumplings, all very tasty. Mains we opted for traditional dishes. We had a vegetarian in our group and she had as no issues finding suitable dishes. The staff were really nice and the service excellent. The portions excellent and tasty. As other reviewers have suggested , it would be nice to perhaps to try and “soften up” the restaurant, few pictures/photos on the walls. There was music playing which for me was a little to loud and we struggled to hear each other. SkY TV was on with no sound, so good if you want to eat and watch a sporting event. As some of the dishes come out on sizzling hot plates the air did become a bit smoky. Would recommend this venue for nice food and friendly service."

Had a family meal at the bell last night, and it was fantastic. Starters and main meals hot and tasty. Service as great. We will be back again. Great new addition to the village.

I’ve heard about the Nepalese food from colleges who live in the village. They weren’t wrong! The food made it all the way back to Bishops Stortford and I earnt lots of “Brownie “ points as it was delicious!

Totally unfriendly barman. Walked in and he only spoke to confirm the ales available. Rather than serve us he turned away and fiddled around until a local came to the bar whom he served while he still ignored us. We walked out.

The new management took over a couple of months ago. They've refitted the kitchen and started serving on 14 September after a taster offering on the 13th. Excellent food and service. The team aslo run the Railway Arms in Whittlesey

This charming restaurant, with both parents as chefs, always leaves me feeling like something is missing from most menus/meals. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food served. The naan breads were delicious and freshly made, light and crispy, and all the main dishes were excellent – everyone in our party of 10 left with clean plates. The tandoori king prawns were exceptional as well. Thank you for a wonderful meal, we will definitely be visiting again.

My husband and I decided to go to The Bell for a spontaneous curry dinner. We were greeted by a friendly staff member at the bar who showed us to our table. We placed our order with another friendly staff member in the restaurant. The food was delicious and we both enjoyed our meals- I had the chicken jalfrezi, while my husband had the chicken vindaloo and we shared a plain naan. The staff were attentive and appreciative of our positive feedback. We will definitely return, and next time I plan on trying the goat curry! It's wonderful to have this restaurant in the village, and I hope it gets the support it deserves.

The Bell is a sister pub to The Railway at Whittlesey, which we frequent often. We recently visited with family friends and were not disappointed. The Nepalese cuisine offered a unique twist from traditional Indian dishes, which we found to be superb. The service was attentive, although there was some noise from the bar and music, which was promptly adjusted when we requested. The atmosphere was lively, the food was fantastic, and they also offer Take Away options. One of the standout features is their willingness to customize dishes to fit your preferences, whether it be adjusting the spiciness level or changing up the protein choice. Overall, a great pub experience!

Couldn’t wait for some life and energy to be ploughed into the spit and sawdust pub in the village. Our table consisted of four couples and although we set off to a slow start as some of the party was delayed, it didn’t stop us from having a great time. The staff were friendly and didn’t mind that we had to wait to rake our order. The food was hot, quick to be served a delicious. The only criticism we had was that the spit and sawdust feel was still there. We did feel like we were sitting a soulless magnolia box. We no curtains, pictures on the walls or decorative effects the room was very basic and echoey. Can’t fault the food or the service, just needs some money spent on the look and feel...

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
