"I love Indian food, in spite of never having been to India, so my reference is UK Indian food and what I cook at home following Madhur Jaffrey cookbooks. So far my experience of Indian restaurant in Munich has been disappointing and although Satluj cannot aspire to be classified as top caterer the overall quality is not too bad. I have been there three times so far.Naans are very good although I had a Peshwari Naan this time which had too much sweet stuff on it. Candied cherries!? and honey as well as the usual almond/pistachios. Weird but good, not sure how authentic though.Samosas were very nice but onion bhaji were actually not. More like onion rings than proper bhajis. As usual I had a vegetarian thali (mixed vegetarian curries brought together with a good cucumber raita) which was not disappointing. The lentil/mung bean dhal was very nice and the Southern Indian curry with coconut was good.My husband had a passable duck vindaloo (too much tomato sauce as it often happens in Indian restaurants) and my mother had a very nice duck Jalfrezi. The rice was not very nice, seemed old, it is not the first time I had this feeling in Satluj. We did not have desserts this time.My salty lassi (yoghurt drink) was excellent.Service appears to be variable. The first two times we were there the waiter was very helpful, this last time he was quite rude and pretended not to understand that I just wanted a simple glass of tap water. A woman from a neighbouring table had to come to my rescue..."

Food was just average. They do give you a complimentary mango schnapps at the end of the meal, which is nice.

Great restaurant, great service, great food. Polite, friendly and hospitable staff. The restaurant design is, unlike most Indian restaurant I've been to so far, NOT kitsch. Highly recommended.

very nice Indian restaurant, the room inside is quite large, so it is also super suitable for medium large groups I go there with my family very often and I can recommend all chicken dishes in principle!

This is well the best Indian Restaurant I know in Munich, with warm and friendly service and situated in the lovely nighbourhood of Haidhausen. The Thalis are best though not when the place is busy, as they take some time and attention to prepare. Voir le carte

there is not too much to say about the restaurant: the dishes are ok, but not 1. class, service is fast, but not remarkable, prices are fair. when they are around and hungry it is not the bad choice, but if they are special for something. they go somewhere else.

One question I always ask after visiting an Indian restaurant in mainland Europe is whether i'd go there regularly if it were in the UK. This is one of the rare occasions where the answer is definitely yes.The food was excellent, the portions generous, the service friendly and the price was right, considering the high quality.I'll be back! satluj has both very nicely located exterior and a cozy and wide room. in a Sunday at lunchtime you can feel the spirit of this part of a little bit, despite the fact of being in an Indian restaurant, as many people with card... play and eat in the meantime. eating is good, tasty and moderately spicy; chicken dishes and sweet are recommended.

Bland is the best description I can give. I have a basic rule of not going to ethnic restaurants in Europe. Maybe because they seem to adapt to local tastes I find their food most often unimpressive. Once in a while I crave for it...though and I give it. Unfortunately this was one more of the same old, same old experience. We had duck saag, I normally like lamb but my friend does not like lamb. I also asked the waiter whether the lamb was mutton (old) or young. He confirmed that it was a large animal so I also decided against the lamb. The saag had not real flavour (the duck was tasty). The other selection was a chicken korma. Also unimpressive with no real depth of taste and chicken pieces...

"Indian restaurants are becoming almost as ubiquitous in Munich as Italian restaurants lately, or so it would seem. So why did I give this one get 5 stars? In part because Yelp doesn't allow for half star ratings and I didn't feel right giving four after my wonderful dinner experience there and the excellent meals my guy has had there before me. Kamasutra is close to his work and we had dinner here after him and work friends raved about this place for lunch. They've only been open for about three months but it's a regular lunch stop for them now. One thing I noticed early on, they do not take shortcuts. Great care is put into food and service. The menu is varied, good selection of wine and cocktails too. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. The interior is more modern and sleek than most Indian resto's. But what about the FOOD? We were in curry heaven. I had a jumbo shrimp curry and he had a chicken vindaloo. Sauces for both were rich, had complex, nuanced flavors and were not greasy or oily. And when they say spicy, they mean spicy, so for those of you lamenting the lack of proper spice level, make your way here NOW. If you don't want your curry toned down for the German palate, do have some here. Lovely garlic naan, very generous serving of good basmati. Delicious mango cream for dessert and real chai that wasn't syrupy sweet. Kamasutra is a real gem and a welcome addition to Munich."
