"The restaurant doesn't look appealing from the outside and also looks closed. Although not very busy we were given a table near the counter where takeaways were ordered which was a bit annoying during the meal. When the main course arrived the waiter tipped the rice onto our plates instead of allowing us to serve ourselves to the amount we wanted. We were disturbed by four different staff members asking us if we were happy with the food, which was a bit obtrusive whilst trying to eat. The ice-cream desserts were over priced so bought one in the Co-op over the road. The food was excellent which made up for the odd experience."

A very friendly Indian restaurant with food way above average and suitably priced. Have been several times and will keep returning.

After we finished our popadoms the waiter took our plate and wiped it with his hand and then put the plate back on the clean pile to give to another customer! Disgusting

Food was nice and of good standard. Service was okay. I raised an issue concerning the fish in the Fishtank and the amount of space they had, hoping this was taken on board so have asked owners directly.

Was lied to about getting a tabel, was told to wait half an hour so we did outside at that too and then when we went in they claimed he said no tables available, very disappointed as have been a regular until now

We had an excellent meal. The staff were very attentive and very friendly. Quality of the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. It's just a shame we were only visiting the area and live too far away to come here regularly. Can't praise this restaurant enough. Voir le carte

Excellent meal, good value and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful. Took my Dad there for the first time in a long time, after he suffered a stroke (used to be his favourite takeaway restaurant) and they were very kind and accommodating towards him.

Went here on Saturday after booking a few days earlier via a rude man who took the booking details on the phone. When I turned up they didn’t seem to have the booking but it didn’t matter as there was plenty of room. Food was ok, not the best but not the worst either. Staff very friendly to the other half asking her how her food was and could they get anything for her, on suggestion I have is I would have spent more had they asked me as well. All in all an ok evening

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
