"Hands down the best cheese ploughman’s I’ve had. Really friendly staff and idyllic village location. They kindly refroze my ice packs and allowed our school students to refill their water bottles and use the loo on their camping expedition. We’ll be back next year. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"Overview: Visited the Coach and Horses for a midweek pub lunch. Situated in the countryside of Ashdown Forest. A lovely pub with a garden and small park area for children. Dog friendy and our dog was allowed in the main bar area. The staff are extremely friendly and made a fuss of our cocker spaniel. Food The food ordered did take some time coming to the table, about 25-30 minutes. Seemingly as the food was being cooked fresh. Unfortunately the burger ordered was completely undercooked so it was inedible. The meat was completely raw in the middle so it was fed to our dog. I ordered the venision as it was described on the menu as locally sourced. Although it came out well presented unfortunately it was well overcooked. It was a shame as we were planning to have dessert but due to the main meals we chose to leave. It wasn't busy at all, so I don't really know why the food came out as it did. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"

"5 stars are based on the cheeseboard I had. I am very, very hard to please when it comes to cheeseboards. Many local eateries (and even abroad actually) you are promised a cheeseboard only to be handed a sorry excuse for an anaemic looking side plate. The Farmers provides a cheeseboard with strength. A generous serving of three local cheese with an appropriate amount of crackers. They do not scimp on the good stuff. I am relieved to have found an establishment worthy of calling themselves a cheeseboard provider. I also was there for an open mic night. The atmosphere was lovely, locals and staff alike were very friendly and welcoming."

"We had a fantastic experience at this gastropub. The food was top quality, the service was exceptional, and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere in the pub was pleasant, and the staff were friendly and well-informed about the menu. We especially enjoyed the steak with a variety of sauce options, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. The desserts were also outstanding. We highly recommend this place for a meal out. The average cost per person was between £30 and £40."

"We arrived with a reserved booking. The women that served us was extremely abrupt and kept “huffing” when we asked questions. She seemed stressed taking our order (7 of us) and never once held a polite conversation with us. When the starters arrived, items were missing so we had to ask. When the mains came out no new cutlery had been replaced so we had to ask and wait for that, making our food go warm. Again items were missing so we had to ask, each time the women would bring one item to the table so it felt as if we were constantly reminding her to get what we had previously asked for. Every time she brought something, it got slammed on the table. At no time were we asked if everything was ok. Three dinners out of the seven were just warm! At approximately 10pm the women came up to us whilst we were still drinking and asked us if we could leave as they were going to shut the pub up as they wanted to take stock of what they had sold in the day to see what they had got left. This was extremely rude of her. We wasn’t asked if we wanted coffees or desserts at any time. When we left we noticed two locals with dogs under their tables still sitting there drinking as if they hadn't been asked to leave. The rude women stood behind the bar thanking us. We have been to this pub before and had such a lovely meal with family who actually live in the village. This experience was just awful and one we won’t be repeating. Just awful. Parking: Parking is quite difficult as it is not lit up well. Wheelchair accessibility: Very difficult. Couldn’t see a disabled bay unless someone was in it. Small steps in pub, narrow. No disabled toilets. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free parking lot, Free street parking"
