Lovely pub, nice staff. Dog friendly and good beer, food we have had had been amazing. Can sometimes get confused with Facebook info not matching opening times but that’s my only moan

A group of five of us went for dinner, they didn’t seem to have hardly a choice, no steaks, no fish, I ordered burger and chips £17,95 absolute rip off, the other meals were similar, they need to up there game if they want to stay in business.

Thursday night 2for 1 on main courses. My husband and I both had the fish and chips mine gluten free and substituting peas for a lovely chutney … really large portions, lovely pieces of fish and great batter! The food at this restaurant was not worth the price. The curry was a dense piece of chicken breast on a bed of plain boiled rice, with minimal sauce and vegetables. The naan bread was also dry. Despite the menu promising mango chutney, it was never served. I returned half of the dry chicken and rice, as I expected better quality for £15. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Have been here a few times now but this last time the meal was under par. Ordered fish and chips, fish was fine but they weren’t chips more like wedges made out of new potatoes with an extremely odd sweet taste and looked burnt and unappetising. Left all mine and was extremely disappointed. Did complain to staff but they weren’t really that bothered and even turned round to the table next to us and laughed!

Complete lucky chance. Driving home from a trip to Dorset, we happened to be on the A46 in Newark at lunchtime. On a whim, we turned left at the roundabout, went into the village and happened upon this place. Lovely pub, charming people, great beer, and the food was fabulous. I had a steak, a beautiful piece of meat, perfectly cooked, my wife had goat’s cheese and spinach lasagne, and declared it one of the best dishes she’d ever had! We’ll be back here, without a doubt. I made a reservation at this restaurant in advance and arrived early, only to find that there were only two other people there. However, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for our food. When the dishes finally arrived, three of the fish meals were completely overcooked and two of the salads seemed like they had been sitting out for a while as the lettuce was wilted and the potatoes were cold. To make matters worse, another couple who arrived 20 minutes after us received their food before we did. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

We were excited to meet up at the pub after many years to catch up with friends and family. There were 7 of us in total. We decided to have Sunday lunch, but were disappointed by the menu. I ordered the chilli prawns for starter, but they were tough as if they had been sitting out for a while. The steak pie with chips and peas was dry with very little meat, the chips were dry, and the peas had no flavor. I had to use gravy from another dish to make it better. My wife had the beef, which was dry and overcooked, and the vegetables were overdone. Overall, we were not impressed with the food. The pub itself was nice, but the overpriced and poorly cooked food was a letdown. We won't be returning...

I attended a wedding reception on Saturday and was blown away by the good food and service. It was a set menu and I chose a duck salad, roast beef and sticky toffee pudding. The duck was Asian infused and full of flavour. The beef was tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I don't normally order a pudding so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The grazing table for the evening reception was amazing. Plenty of meat and chees and a large selection of chutneys, salads, bread and crackers to go with it. The staff were attentive and polite. Everywhere you looked there were waitresses and waiters on hand. The event was closed to the public so we'll definitely go back and try the ma... Voir le carte
