"Nice location outdoor dining area . Inside could do with modernisation. The food is decent but pretty basic however the cakes scones are very good . The reason this only gets a 3 is down to the service and attitude. The couple that...run the place are disorganised and chaotic .The man is pleasant but isn’t able to do much apart from make the tea coffee .The lady is quite rude and abrupt and takes ages to do anything . I was waiting to be served and once the customer in front placed his order she just went off to clear tables and chat to regulars . I waited ages and eventually he called for her 3 times but she still didn’t come back . He then took my order but got flustered and said the scones had to go to the kitchen to get buttered !! When she eventually reappeared she tried to take the order again and abruptly too . As I came away front counter a customer was coming up with a plate of cakes she had purchased and the lady snapped ‘what’s wrong with those cakes “ . In summary service is poor and very slow"

Lovely home baking and friendly service from this family run cafe. Coffee was good and there is a large terraced area outside. Worth a visit.

Quick visit after a long walk along the beach. Staff could not have been more helpful. The coffee and tray bake were lovely. Why there is barbed wire around the outside seating area that restricts coastal views to die for beats logic Voir le carte

Popped in today for Sunday lunch. Food as always was excellent. We had a delicious roast dinner with coffee and hubby had a slice of apple pie with ice cream and cream as well. Service was with a smile and despite being busy, the team...went the extra mile as they always do.

Service horrendous, food awful and unappetizing. All my friend and I wanted were 2 sandwiches and 2 cups of tea. We got 2 horrible sandwiches, the cheese was missing from my friends, I didn't get my tea and it took ages. Should shut the place...down, horrible. Had to give a 1 in the ratings as you can't move on otherwise. Rating -20

only two people would have expected such a warm welcome, but unfortunately I was wrong. bacon rolle came fast and the speck was deep fried and burned around the edges. it was covered with fat and looked out and smells like the oil did not. changed in a time. coffee was indescribable. I don't know if it was filter, right away or got what. the place was grubby and the little dog ran around the es tab and the kitchen. Voir le carte

yesterday entered for lunch as the situation was good. oh, what a mistake! a terrible place! confusing menu, place needs a good clean and clear. the suppe was unusable, two children who worked behind the tables of counter- and clearing work. dog walking around in kitchen and restaurant....Toilets shameful. needs good cleanliness! I couldn't get out fast enough. the best part of the lunch was the lurpak butter part! Actually, I did not think that place like these still existed, a very bad example of the Scottish gas friendship.

we came into the building and it was unwilling and boring, the table was sticky. the personal has not even recognized us and there were only 2 other people in the caffe. there was a little dog walking around the caffe and one. had very dirty floor and then peed on the floor through a table. the shield said dogs on a track, but this dog was not and snoring at our dog. It seemed as if the dog belonged to someone in the caffe when he had a bed in the corner. was absolutely disgusting and we went out. the whole place felt dirty. would not recommend it.

"Genuinely couldn't fault the experience. When I heard that the Drouthy had a new menu focusing more on a veggie and vegan base, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The starter of hot Smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and oatcakes was simple yet packed full of flavour. I could have easily have had 10 plates of that and been happy to give it 5 stars. My partner had the smoked duck and even though I have given up meat, I was salivating at the look of their dish. They assure me that it was as delicious as it looked. Served with lavender roasted potatoes (which I'm told were amazing and charred salsify. The mains were more than a match for the brilliant starters. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be get the beetroot risotto. Not being a massive fan of beetroot, I wasn't too sure about it. But the incredibly warm waiter (for my son's, I never got his name. I only hope he can forgive me if he reads this! assured me it was tasty. He was not wrong. Beautifully cooked vegan risotto with balsamic beetroot chunks, shiitake mushrooms and rocket, it was simply divine. WHEN I go back, I'll be hard pressed to go for anything else because it was so delicious. It was creamy, packed full of flavour and cooked absolutely perfectly. Just the right amount of bite, nowhere near being mush like you get in a lot of other places (who charge a lot more, by the way . Superb. The highest of compliments to the chef. I was so taken by my dish I forgot to ask how my partner's was until I had eaten all of mine. But their home made vegan tagliatelle had disappeared from the plate so it must have been amazing. I couldn't handle dessert so had a delicious ruby port (delaforce I think it was called , and I would also like to give credit to whoever came up with their wine list. It covered every single base and no-one could ever be disappointed. Finally, if you're ever in Elgin, please make sure this is one of your destinations. You will leave extremely happy."
