"It's nice that Backnang has a Greek restaurant again. And Thalassa is within walking distance of our home. My wife had been there a couple of times and said it was good. As someone who has been to Greece several times, I have experienced authentic...Greek food and know what to expect. Did Thalassa meet up to it? Weeelll....yes and no. The food is quite expensive for what it is. The Saganaki which was my starter was That would have been fine if it had been an authentic Saganaki (i.e. Kefalotiri cheese melted into submission). But this was two pieces of a single slice of Feta, breaded and deep fried. Tasted fine, but a) it wasn't very much (even my year-old son said That's small and b) as above, it wasn't the real thing. My main course was a meat plate which was fine, although it did, as the Germans would say sit in my stomach for the rest of the day. The service was friendly enough although I did miss the complimentary ouzo at the end, which you get in practically every other Greek restaurant. After all we had spent on lunch and there was a whole tray of the glasses AND a giant ouzo bottle within touching distance of our table. Would I go there again? Probably as it could be said that the details are little niggles (the interior is a delight, by the way), but would I make a special reason to go there? I doubt it. So, on the whole, stars and no more."
