"We chose the restaurant and the tasting menu based on the reviews. Unfortunately, it must have been a bad day in the kitchen or it simply was not to our taste. On a personal level, I found some of the elements of the dishes too greasy, too salty and lacking freshness and excitement. My husband started giving honest feedback to the staff for the first few courses but it was obvious that we were upsetting them. I fully appreciate this as it is their business and they must be proud of it. I did not find it worth the £130 per head but still ate the food as wasting food is not acceptable where I am from."

An amazing restaurant that takes local fresh food and brings out the best with it due to the excellent skills of the chefs. This is enhanced by all the other staff and the friendly atmosphere, a great place to eat.

Great meal last night your 5th Year Celebration menu making the Rabbit Scotch egg gluten free for me was a particular highlight......so tasty all of it. Great service from delightful staff! Recommended as most of the menus can be adapted if not simply gluten free!

we have won in orwells a series of times since the search for them last year when they best pub food in good food guide. every time the eating was top notch; not only delicious, but really push some of the ideas of taste, texture and plating. the personal is all so friendly, always happy to chat. it's a **** brilliant place, and if you weren't there, you're seriously gone.

It was certainly the best meal we have ever had. The service was informal but very good. I cannot comment on the bill- we were there as guests of our daughter. I had the scallop then lamb. Beautiful cooked and presented both. The pudding- rhubarb and custard- like something we had never tasted before. To top it off- macarons and other sweet meats! The whole thing was a gourmet experience. Well done chef!

After we had eaten at orwell before the lockdown, we were worried that it could not live to our incredible previous experience. we didn't have to worry, even though it was the same if not more extraordinary. the greeting when they arrive is so friendly and sitting in the garden with fizz look at the amazing sight was beautiful. once inside we had half a tasting menu that was a sequence of amazing dressing with the most beautiful sauces of all time! ryans weinwissen is excellent and his suggestions for food saving were on site. We had a fabulous evening and will come back soon!
