"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"

The afternoon tea selection here was very good. We liked the croque monsieur a nice change from the usual sandwiches) and the cake selection was delicious. Excellent service from Fatima.

Only eatery we could find open at half past four in the afternoon, so a point in its favour there. Usual good quality food. Good service (Josh, our server, was polite and helpful). No negatives. 4*

Lovely walk along the river we used to moor our 27 ft freeman boat at the town mooring a short to the restaurant along the river bank or the car park always spaces. . Meal was very good service very good great location

Delicious food and wine, beautiful setting, good atmosphere and a warm welcome and excellent service from Fatima! Thank you. So sad to hear it's closing.. this place has been a firm favourite (of the whole family) for many years. A big loss for Henley.

The service was terrible, with rude and aggressive staff who lacked basic customer service skills. I will not be coming back to this restaurant. Additionally, when I tried to contact head office to make a complaint, the number provided was not working.

I came early in the evening for a coffee and rest after a long walk. The host greeted me warmly, quickly seated me at a sunny table, and served me a delicious oat cappuccino. It was the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a book or meet with friends. Thank you!

We went to Cafe Rouge for an Afternoon Tea which we received as a gift. We were looked after by Fatima and Ursula who were very nice. The tea arrived and consisted of a collection of toasted sandwiches, scones and cakes all of which were very fresh and tasty. We also had a refill of hot drinks which were served promptly. A very nice experience thank you!

We went there for dinner tonight, at 5:30, with our two children, 6 and 3. Good time to have dinner with the kids, we thought. 15 mins in, the acting manager came to our table and said ‘do you mind keeping the noise of your children down? We have had two complaints so far’. It was an empty restaurant, apart from two older ladies and although my youngest had two 30 second outbursts, he was just a normal three year old. We left in the end and I got upset but the manager kept insisting he was ‘perfectly reasonable to ask us to keep our children quiet’ and he felt he was polite in doing so.
