"We received a warm welcome upon arrival at the restaurant and were promptly seated at our table with menus. The menu was well explained to us and we ordered a glass of champagne while we waited for our afternoon tea to be served. The sandwiches were flavorful, though slightly dry, and the cake selection was excellent, particularly the strawberry shortcake. Unfortunately, the scones were disappointing - they were small, dry, and claggy, leaving a strange aftertaste and making them difficult to swallow. The scones should have been the highlight of the experience, but in this case they were truly awful. It was a shame, as everything else, especially the service, was top-notch."

The restaurant is charming and provides a peaceful atmosphere. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff that did not intrude on the dining experience.

I treated my mum for her birthday afternoon tea. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. I would definitely return. We could not finish the cakes as we were so full!!

This has changed since I last visited. No more gentleman’s afternoon tea. Worst is they have modernised the decor with uncomfortable seating and layout. Less private and loud music playing. Not the experience you’d expect from afternoon tea. Voir le carte

We enjoyed the food, nice choice of sandwiches and lovely cakes. However the service was very poor, servers were inattentive and needed to be asked several time when we needed anything. Music level was such that you could not carry out a decent conversation. Disappointed as this was a special celebration. Will not be attempting a return visit.

Me and my sister went to the raddisson for afternoon tea we have been many times before and was always perfect but this time it was different the after tea was poor and that’s being nice the sandwiches were bland tasteless the cheese one was just soggy the scones were horrible and no option of a plain scone the cakes at the top were soft and soggy too and the hazelnut cake was to dense we definitely will not be going back as it was a disappointment and we paid £66 which was definitely not worth it.

Welcomed with friendliness we were early and sat in the bar area..We were taken to our table promptly and made to feel very comfortable. Afternoon tea served, sandwiches were very nice enjoyed the fillings, good choice of cakes and scones It was a 70th birthday celebration for my husband and we were treated to a glass of Champagne. The service was excellent although there was a change over in staff during the time we were there, nothing was too much trouble. No hesitation in recommending Afternoon Tea here.. Voir le carte

We decided to treat our mother for Mother's Day at this restaurant. It was very busy, which we expected, but the service was inconsistent. We had to wait 15-20 minutes for a refill of tea that we had requested and had to ask twice. One waiter was friendly, while another was indifferent. Considering the number of bookings they had, the staff could have been better prepared. However, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, our experience was not as enjoyable or relaxing as we had hoped due to the service and the loud DJ music. I asked for the music to be turned down, but my request was ignored.

Awful lunch in every way. It was planned to celebrate my birthday. We had booked gluten free x2 for my mum and sister to come with me who are coeliac. Despite booking on the form the gluten free meals, confirming on email afterwards and speaking to the server about it over and over to stipulate their allergy it was terrible. They were violently ill all evening after the meal clearly showing it wasn't gluten free at all. Such a disappointment and waste of £125. We had researched all the different places in Manchester offering afternoon tea before booking here. We have complained and still waiting for the manager to call back

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
