Old Fountain - Menu

Went with my mum. Food was beautiful. Beef. vegetables beautifully cooked. Staff was lovely and friendly. Dog friendly. Children welcome too. Would highly recommend a visit.

We had to cancel a group booking of 16 people due to Covid concerns. I’m very Disappointed the venue will not refund the deposit, even though it’s over 24 hour notice. Businesses will reply on returning customers, and I certainly won’t be one, when things go back to a more normal.

My friend had fish and chips which she enjoyed. However I had a beef burger which looked like it had been flash grilled and only the outer burger was cooked the inside was raw. When the staff took the plate away I told them the burger was raw they didn’t seem concerned and didn’t not apologise. The menu was also very limited with a few options.

Nice outdoor setting upstairs but no proper food was a bit of a let down. The server upstairs was running around being rude to everyone all night and told us we had to leave because we hadn't ordered more drinks while we were finishing up our drinks and snacks. Very unpleasant atmosphere he created and not what you expect from a public house. You know who you are. The date was 29 April 2021. Be nice.

I had high hopes for this restaurant but was ultimately let down. I ordered the pork Sunday lunch, which looked impressive but was only lukewarm. The pork seemed like it had been reheated and was tough, not freshly carved. The potatoes and other vegetables were overcooked. The saving grace was the large Yorkshire pudding. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding, but it was more like a light sponge with no density or flavor. The beer was the only highlight of the meal.

We dined on the dog-friendly roof terrace and savored a delicious Sunday roast. I opted for the "Fountain roast" featuring roast beef, pork belly, and ribs, complemented by crispy roast potatoes and a variety of vegetables. The vegan and vegetarian options were also outstanding. For dessert, we indulged in a selection of ice creams, some of which were suitable for vegans. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return.

The Old Fountain is a historic pub/restaurant just around the corner from Moorfields Eye Hospital on City Road, EC1. There were eight of us for Sunday lunch, so we had two tables of four next to each other, and were well looked after by the waiter Tamira. She is a star very professional and personable. There is an excellent range of beers, a good wine list and a decent negroni on offer my favourite cocktail. We all ordered the roast beef, which was super. The portions were generous and well presented. A couple of bottles of Pinot Noir went down well with the hot food. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream is recommended, too. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was not good. The food was mediocre, with the soup being the only decent dish, although it did not come with bread as expected. When we requested bread, we were told there was none available, even though we were brought a few slices. The roast potatoes were undercooked and only had a crispy surface. One of our party members had allergies and inquired about the contents of a drink, but the waiter/manager did not know and did not make an effort to find out, simply suggesting a different drink instead. Absolutely disgusted by the Middle Aged man that greeted me and my friends here this afternoon! After working hard all week myself and friends had been looking forward to having a few drinks/food and enjoying each other’s company. The waiter rudely greeted us to our sits, we sat down and then he said I don’t get a good feeling from you all! Firstly this is plain right unacceptable to judge a group of late 20s early 30s men, and 2nd of all you had plenty of available seating. He then asked us to leave just as we sat down!
