Came for a meal yesterday with family and friends, we all thoroughly enjoyed it good portion size and really tasy I had the steak baguette the steak was cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff will definitely be returning.

Food and beer range excellent and good quality. Strong menu. Service a little on the slow side, it does feel as if the kitchen/bar can’t keep up with the number of tables. Unfortunately, the pub was very loud on this visit which did make the atmosphere a little unpleasant.

I usually enjoy this restaurant, but yesterday was a letdown. A group of 10 of us went and even though it didn't seem crowded, it took a while to get our food. One meal had to be sent back because it was cold. My uncle didn't want another meal brought out, so that was disappointing. The staff didn't ask us if we wanted any sauces, which they usually do. We had to ask for drinks because they forgot about them, and the gravy never came. It was a very poor experience, especially since this place is normally really good.

A family of 5 of us went and we was seated straight away. We ordered our drinks and food and the drinks arrived quickly. Now the food order was a tad longer. The order was two stael pies one scampi and two chicken dishes. We got our food over one hour later. When it came mine was tepid if that and the chips were cold. I counted 10 chips and my uncle who had the same meal got double the amount I received. If the staff didn't talk too much our food wouldn't of been left to go cold. It's not cheap either the pie is £7 dearer than a public house nearby and nowhere near has good.

I went to view a couple of houses in Walton when I dropped on this excellent pub. It 's well worth the journey from Hood Green, Barnsley. Better than the Strafford Arms just a mile away from my home address. I 've been 3 times in the last fortnight. I loved the Sea Bass, which I asked for without looking at the menu on my last visit. My sister mentioned her chips were overdone, my neice commented similarly regarding her fishcakes. The first offering of Sea Bass I devoured was also a little overdone but this made it more delicious in my opinion. I downed the skin off the fish which was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Will definitely go again. Well done!

Used to live in Walton 20+ years ago and its been a long time since I set foot inside the new inn. Its been totally revamped and restructured and is now a really nice comfortable place to be. No aloofness, pleasant surroundings and nice staff. I was driving so couldn't take advantage of the many varied and nice beers available. But a great selection to satisfy most palates. Plenty of choice on the menu too and all looked great. The food was beautiful and piping hot. And the prices were competitive. I had the new inn pie which was great. I was extremely disappointed with the service and food order management at this pub. After placing a partial food order at the bar, the inexperienced staff informed us that we could only dine in the pub lounge and not outside. This was followed by the news that they were only serving pizza at that time. I later found out that this was because a table of seven had arrived in the restaurant. Despite the lack of business at the pub and the absence of any signs indicating a change in the menu, I witnessed servers bringing burgers, baguettes, onion rings, and other items to other customers.
