"The name is Mezcal Cantina so you should expect two things from this place:1. Mezcal2. Mexican foodBoth were atrocious. From the list of Mezcals the restaurant claim to have they only had two barely two at that since nobody should be proud of stocking Monte Alban so really only one passable Mezcal was available. This was on a Saturday night so it 's not like they had sold out over a busy weekend and were awaiting re supply. They didn 't even have any interestinmg Mexican beers just the standard stuff you find in the supermarket and this place is selling them to you for a fiver a bottle! Where 's the Bohemia? Where 's the Tecate? Where 's the Indio?Guys if you 're struggling for Mezcal supply try Master of Malt in the UK or CampoLuzEnoteca in Spain (both will deliver to you) or maybe get your mates back home to ship it over from La Europea. Whatever you do, if you 're going to call yourself Mezcal Cantina the least you can do is have some Mezcal in stock!!Now on to the food...It 's obvious you don 't make your own tortillas but I can forgive that (although my wife was less than forgiving on this point). What cannot be forgiven, what is utterly disgusting is that your salsa is made from ketchup!! Ketchup Salsa. Folks, let that settle in a bit. A place that prides themselves on serving authentic Mexican cuisine thinks it 's ok to serve you salsa made from tomato ketchup. So let 's recap.Mezcal Cantina doesn 't have any Mezcals worth drinking and their very mediocre food is served with ketchup salsa.I 'll also agree with many other reviewers that the food and drinks are horrifically over priced."

The authentic Mexican food at this Dalston restaurant is fantastic. The service is excellent and the prices are quite fair.

Went here for delicious cactus tacos and guacamole. The margaritas were not bad either. They homemake their tortilla chips, which is rare in the UK and it was all very yummy. Would go again and again!

Great atmosphere where you get to forget for a night that you are in London! We loved the cocktails made by Elisabeth who is the lovely owner of this little and cozy mexican bar and restaurant! We will definitely come back to try the rest of the delicious looking cocktail, food menu and mezcal of course! :

This is the worst takeaway I 've ever had. If anyone thinks that 12.70 is an appropriate amount to pay for 3 tiny corn tortillas and a tupperware of sloppy roast veg (this apparently is a 'fajita ')then this is your place. Not only that, but after a complaint and a reorder, the exact same bland and incomplete order arrived. Appalling. Genuinely the worst takeaway i have ever had in my entire life.

Ordered a delivery on a sunday evening. It took almost 2 hours for the food to arrive. The beef tacos were extremely dry, we couldn't eat them. The tortillas were definitely NOT home made. Very cheap and tasteless. The chicken parrillada consisted of a grilled chicken breast and a tiny chorizo sausage. Again the meat was really dry with no spices whatsoever. For £16.90 I would have expected a bit more. We also got some Nachos to share and again... As bland as you can get. Guacamole, tomato sauce just tasted of.... nothing....Bill came to a total of £34.90 for 2. Expensive for a small amount of a plain (mexican? take away.. Voir le carte

Although it was a busy Friday night, the service at this restaurant was incredibly slow. We ordered the nachos, but the first serving was cold and the cheese was not melted. After politely asking for another serving, we encountered reluctance from the waiter who explained that the restaurant was busy and they were working as quickly as possible. After some back and forth, we received a second serving of nachos that was marginally better but still below average. The tacos were dry and poorly assembled, falling apart as we tried to eat them. I would recommend avoiding the fish and prawn tacos. When we asked for the bill, another server inquired about our experience. After explaining our disapp...

I've never written a one star review before, but I am really disappointed/angry with my experience here. Visited with a friend as we thought it looked quirky and fairly busy. It took ten minutes for our order to be taken. Ten minutes later the waiter came back as he'd forgotten the order and our wine wasn't available. We were annoyed but these things happen. We ordered two large starters to share, nachos and tacos, which took 50 minutes to arrive. Both average. The toilets had no where to dry your hands and the handwash was watered down. This is OK for a household but it makes me question the cleanliness of a business serving food. Upon receiving the bill I requested the service charge to be...

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
