although the beer garden is located directly on the sbahn, it is cozy here - the sbahn isn't even true. the beer garden has a restaurant part with solid menu and a self-service part with the most important beer garden snacks fresh from the grill.

We were invited to this friends by some local friends. And thanks for that! Maria Josef is an idyllic Bavarian style restaurant in a nice part of Berlin. We had excellent food, great service and of course great German beer. This must be a...perfect place to spend a warm summer day.

On our first evening in Berlin we went to Maria und Josef which was close to where we were staying. Initially sat outside in the evening sun it was a convivial atmosphere with plenty of locals (always a good sign imo). The food was plentiful,...hearty and tasty and the only blot on an otherwise lovely evening was that just as we finished eating, it started raining! That said, we did move inside into the rather lovely dining room before settling up and getting very wet walking home.

I have eaten at both the Biergarten and the restaurant of Maria and Josef and both offer great, authentic German cuisine. It is situated off the road and even though the restaurant menu isn't too extensive, there are good choices. Prices at the restaurant are...slightly higher than desired, however the great taste and flavours of the food make up for that. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, a good atmosphere as well, especially outside (indoor seating is closed temporarily from the pandemic anyways). Voir le carte
