What a wonderful restaurant! Delicious food and the best hospitality we’ve experienced in a while. It really felt like being back in Italy. The atmosphere was great and every table in the restaurant was full, but this didn’t impact the service level at all. Make sure you book as it’s clearly very popular! my wife and I had the greatest pleasure celebrating our anniversary last Thursday 9th March at Mama Mia. Welcoming staff, no sour face when I asked for tap water as the designated driver that evening. Atmosphere, presentation first class. Our food was a delight my venison especially so, compliments to the chef. We have an 45 minute drive to this restaurant and will gladly do it again.

I live just a 2-minute walk away and I have to say that it's a privilege because this restaurant is truly the best. Paulo, his wife, and their team do an excellent job from the moment you step through the door. The restaurant has a classy atmosphere, with polite staff, delicious food, and a very warm welcome. I can't wait to go back. Thank you all so much for a lovely evening. I went with a close friend and ended up meeting another local friend celebrating his anniversary. Don't want to critise too much as 3 out of 4 of us enjoyed the meal, hence why I have given a 3 marking. Personally though I was very disappointed. The meal was for my 50th birthday (although the restaurant did not know that). I was looking forward to a really good pizza to be told the pizza chef was not in so no pizza that Saturday night. OK it happens but it should have been mentioned when they phoned that morning to confirm the booking. Being vegetarian that left me with 2 options. One I didn't fancy so had pasta with mushrooms, cherry tomato's and olive oil. Pretty tasteless and the oil tasted like it had been used previously to fry seafood. Can only think that making an early booking was a mistake. Friendly welcome but not a smile, in fact not a word from the waiting staff. Service was fast, which initially seemed fine. Unfortunately this extended to the clearing of plates, while some were still eating their meal. In fact, for one diner, the last mouthful was being eaten as the plate was removed. Felt rushed and even left half an hour before we needed to. Considering this is not a ‘cheap eatery’ I did expect, as standard, some finger bowls or wipes for those eating butterflied prawns and mussels. Haven’t been here for many years so wanted to try it out again after seeing good reviews. My husband and I had originally booked for our anniversary dinner but ended up eating out at lunch that day instead so changed the booking for my birthday meal with our sons a few days later. Not sorry we didn’t go for anniversary as ambiance was very lacking. Lights were very bright and did not feel in the least romantic. Which really surprised me. But food was mostly very nice. Service was good and attentive. The starters were good, whitebait, bruschetta, and prawns in a chilli tomato sauce being the favourites.
