"edible maternal day lunch my first visit at the george in the beautiful village great amwell. from the moment we went, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Drinks arrived immediately, as well as each of the 3 courses during our stay. it has a nice cozy atmosphere and eating is not only very well presented, it tastes delicious. more restaurant quality eat in a pub. it is not the cheapest place in the world, with menu prices that touch on london prices, but when they are in demand, and the people are happy to pay. then what can they expect me to return and recommend for a beautiful meal"

"A really excellent dinner and family meal out. Staff were most attentive and professional. More important, the food entries were all delicious! On a menu with ample choices, a couple of us had the steak frites, and others had the wagyu burger, and pan roasted cod loin from the main menu. Their daily specials had gammon and eggs, which one of our company went for. I ordered a side of seasonal buttered greens, which contained green beans, broccoli, and kale on the night. All dishes were cooked to perfection, and came beautifully presented. (I hope the photos do justice to that). I also treated myself to a waffle with walnut, maple syrup, and ice cream, which was also scrummy. Being a McMullen's establishment (local Hertford brewery) there were a good choice of beers, wines, and cocktails. All in all, a great meal, fantastic service and ambience, and we shall definitely visit again soon."

"I wasn't sure quite what to expect when I went along to The Millstream. The first time I went, it had been a choice between plain salad or chips. However, I had heard that they were celebrating World Vegan Day- which in itself is a positive- so decided to go and check out the vegan menu for myself. The waitress was warm and welcoming, talking to me in depth about all allergens within the vegan menu- since I'm allergic to both gluten and soy as well- and was able to assure me that the entire menu is made from scratch by the chef, to give it a home cooked feel. The manager herself came to speak with me and we ended up conversing for a long time. She told me that if I called in advance, the chef would be more than happy to prepare me something not on the menu- such as a vegan cheese burger. She took pride in the fact that everything is made from scratch, and that they now provide vegan cheese which is selling well. The meal itself exceeded all possible expectations. I had a chickpea curry with rice, and a side of vegetable dahl. It was mild- but with a small and pleasant kick-, warming and filling. The seasoning was balanced and perfect, and it was a rare occasion in which I didn't need to add salt or pepper. All in all, I'd give the meal 10/10 and would recommend anyone and everyone to go along."

"A really lovely italian and turkish restaurant. We ordered some pasta, pizza and calzone. It was a cold day yesterday so was nice to be somewhere warm with hot drinks and lovely food. The only thing i wanted to mention is that the customer service was a bit lacking. I felt like we were bothering them when asking for things and also there was a bit of a mix of what we meant by garlic pizza bread and garlic bread. I know that we didnt mention the exact name of the starter on the menu but instead of double making sure if this is what we meant, I got a lesson on when ordering to say the exact name of the starter which was a bit unnecessary and left us feeling a bit unwelcome. They did rectify it and bought us the correct starter at no cost but then preceded to tell me off about it which again was not needed. Other than that the food is good and we had a good time."

"One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. It should be noted that the markup in price reflects the quality £15.95 for fish and chips seated inside) but it is worth it as it's not your average. The owner clearly knows what he's doing. The batter is gluten free and the fat taste is very clean. I've also tried the fish pie here which is one of the best I've ever had. Salmon, prawn, paddock, boiled egg and exceptionally creamy mash. Would recommend both dishes highly. Also a good selection of bottled beers to accompany the dinner. The chef on duty has asked us on both visits how our food was, so you can tell they care for customer satisfaction."
