"I was very disappointed with going a long way to find that the place was not fully vegetarian. There are a few non vegetarian food options too. I don’t have a problem with any restaurants food availability. But when reality does not meet the expectations, then it’s disappointing. I am a very strict vegetarian who does not eat at a place where they serve non vegetarian. I asked the waiter if the place was vegetarian (as the board outside read it but there was a funny smell inside). I ordered after they confirmed it was vegetarian. While leaving the restaurant, I found a sheet of paper (outside of the menu items) that read lamb, prawn etc etc. Very very disappointed. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone again!"

it was okay. it will be advertised that it is a purely vegetarian vegan restaurant, and that is unfortunately not true (more?).

Jedes Mal, wenn wir in Hamburg sind gehen wird zu Mahadosa. Super leckere Dosa und das Ambiente ist super angenehm. Am besten wäre jetzt noch ein Veganer Mango Lassie

it is south indian food that has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. I had the mysore masala dosa, which is not enough spicy for my Indian taste. the masala idly and mysore bonda were pretty good. all vegan. Voir le carte

the restaurant has many vegan dishes. the non-vegan courts are marked. the service was incredibly friendly and immediately passed on in the kitchen that I am vegan. so we got vegan dosa four vegan sauces as appetizer. as main dishes there are many vegan currys. absolutely recommended, but not very cheap!

The restaurant is mostly vegan/vegetarian, everything is explained and clearly labelled. I had never been to a South Indian restaurant before so I was quite happy to find this in Hamburg. I had a dosa (crispy pancake made from lentil dough filled with spiced potatoes) and a starter. It all tasted very nice and I'll be happy to come again.

I had a very tasty dinner at the very nicely decorated place. there were many vegan options and they were marked clearly in the menu. the service was very friendly! the only con is that a coworker tries to convince us, appetize or add a witness during ordering, but it wasn't that bad at all and he really tried to find the best dishes for our taste. updated by previous review on 2022-07-24

the vegan choices are overwhelming because they have a lot of explicit vegan choices, but also because everything can be made vegan, also the leti that was delicious! the mahadosa serves typical South Indian foods that are not easy to find on other places. we had the idly, several dosas and some currys with bucks of different chutney’s and everything was fantastic. they even serve a curry with a rare and very bitter pumpkin if they like it. besides the extraordinary selection of food, the location is very comfortable and beautifully furnished and since the personal service was so friendly and friendly, I would have liked to give 5 stars. updated by previous review on 2022-08-12

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
