"we came for lunch on thursday 13th august and brought a polish friend spending time in england. when we arrived we had a drink in the bar, our table was booked for 1pm and we were not called into lunch untl we mentioned it and thought was nearer 1.30. we had the 19.50 lunch two courses, the starter was very poor, supposed to be beetroot and salmon salad but so small and no salad. the main course being rump of lamb, which consisted of a few slices of lamb on a bed of peas with a sprinkle of mint. no vegetables. we were not even asked if we would like vegetables. we had coffee in the lounge, i thought that coffee was included in the price , i mentioned to the waiter on having the bill, this was deducted. very expensive and poor, i was not impressed at all. i know we opted for the cheaper menu but still think it was poor value for money. i would not go for lunch again. i have had afternoon tea many times and alway enjoyed those and are good value. it is a lovely hotel."

The restaurant isn't as good as it used to be! The quality of service has definitely declined in all aspects.

Heartfelt thanks for all the care you give to ensure a visit to Limewood is so very special. My lunch with my friend was wonderful and I was back the next day afternoon tea with work colleagues. The food is excellent but I have to rate your staff as Superb.

Pitching itself as a more quality and upmarket establishment with the backing of big London name Angela Hartnett devising the restaurant menus. The location is beautiful and the bar and restaurant classy but friendly. I felt a little watched by the staff as it was fairly quiet! Decided to come him as The Pig at Brockenhurst has a very restrictive dog policy.

Whilst on holiday in the New Forest, and as a special treat, we left toddler with grandparents and had a wonderful evening at Lime Wood. Amazing food and exceptional service. Dan and Paolo looked after us. Great fresh pasta with pigeon olives and then the saddle of lamb, hubby had the gnocchi with duck and then the Hake. Best cheeseboard I've ever seen eaten. It is expensive but we most definitely got what we paid for. Would return in a heartbeat. Fabulous!

After a four-year absence, we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of service, warm welcome, and attention to detail. While the menu selection could use some improvement as it felt a bit fussy, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food choices. The homemade bread was delicious. The pear and walnut salad starter was delightful, and the baked hake with artichokes was wonderfully juicy, complemented by a great blend of flavors. The ambiance in the bar and restaurant was beautiful, and the Christmas decorations enhanced the warm and cozy atmosphere. Well done, Limewood team! We will be back soon!

We went for Lunch with our daughters who are 8. They were wonderful with the kids and service was attentive. The food was good and the lunch menu was great value. We were well looked after though there were 3 occasions where we were asked if we wanted to order when we had already done so (one of the waiters who asked if we wanted wine actually tool our order in the first place). Not a big issue just an observation that if the price was at the al a carte menu point we may have been less impressed. Our view is that this is a great Lunch venue but wasn't convinced enough that the food and service warranted the al a carte price point.

The hotel is lovely, But we asked if there was more than one restaurant, and we were told no. But after being seated , it was clear there were two other places to have something to eat.. In fact, three, if you count the mostly vegetarian option, at the spa although it is for hotel guests, unless they have room) Unfortunately, it must be hard to find great staff, because over and over again, our waited kept repeating to us, only starters, Only starters , making us feel badly, that we only ordered a light lunch. There were so many heads of house... it was a shame, they could engage in better training for staff, especially as many don 't have a fantastic command of the language, that it sort of...

The restaurant is in a beautiful, charming, romantic place. The atmosphere, both inside and outside, is extremely pleasant. Excellent service and beautiful dinnerware. We chose the shared dinner menu, a 5 course, which could be a surprise from the chef or you could know what would be brought, and thats what we chose. There were 2 entrees, a cured meat board which was good and a goats cheese salad, the highlight of the night, so beautiful and delicious!! The 2 main dishes were pasta and lamb. For our great disappointment the pasta was not to the standard of an Italian restaurant at all, but the manager kindly apologised and promised to address the fault. The lamb and the desert were delicious...

"I've known this pub/restaurant for your years, and the downfall of this establishment is nothing to do with COVID, its the management!! During and since COVID there's been a strong emphasis on booking, so I telephoned beforehand just to make sure for a midweek lunch... Yes highly recommend to book they said! Me thinking it was going to be busy. Turned up at the door and as intructed waitied to be seated. Hung around for about minutes, no one around, no one at the bar, no waitress on the floor, no manager, no customers to be precise! Finally a young girl appeared from the kitchen and sat us down. Food and drinks arrived OK and fairly quickly, but then other customers tuned up, hung around to be seated and again no staff to be seen. As we were seated by the door, we spoke and suggested to these customers to move on down the raad to the Bold Forester where the service and attention is much better. We must have turned away about people during the course of our lunch and the staff hadn't even noticed and had no idea! There was only the chef, one waiter and a manager on shift, and we were the only customers, so where and what the hell these staff were doing, God only knows? In its heyday, this place hinged upon its managers who'd pack this pub with walkers, cyclists and those wanting a lunch. This place is owned by Forest Inns and my message to the MD, Gary Baldwin, is buck up! and let the Lydhurst Park Hotel be a memorial and reminder, of what happens when you let complaincy take over and let things slip."
