"I have never experienced such a terrible meal. We all ended up feeling unwell. The rice was mushy, and most of the meat was served cold. When they say "gravy," they really mean it – it's just as unappetizing as school cafeteria gravy. It resembles frozen food from Iceland that has been reheated twice and served cold. Fortune Court may be the only choice in Newtown, but going there is a gamble – you risk spending time in the restroom and still leaving hungry. Even my dog wouldn’t eat most of it, and it smells like his food. It's hard to believe they’re still in business. Food rating: 1."

As always, I believe this is the best Chinese takeaway in Wales. The family running it is lovely, always cheerful, and incredibly helpful to their customers. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. Five stars for Kwai Chin!

The dining experience was exceptional, with fantastic customer service that was both warm and attentive. The staff was especially helpful in handling allergy concerns. I would wholeheartedly give this restaurant a five-star rating! Voir le carte

The food was delicious, but when I called, they said there would be a 45-minute wait. We arrived and ended up waiting an additional 40 minutes. Many other customers were experiencing the same long wait, which was quite disappointing.

This restaurant offers delightful food with an excellent selection. I ordered takeout for dinner, and the price per person was between £10 and £20. The food quality was outstanding, earning a perfect score of 5, and the service was equally impressive with a top rating of 5 as well. The atmosphere was nice, rated at 4. I highly recommend the Chicken Satay and Chow Egg Fried Rice!

The food was absolutely delicious! I had the king prawns with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, while my companion enjoyed the chicken with ginger and an early spring roll soup. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Plus, the food stayed hot even after our 15-minute drive back to our holiday home. The place was buzzing with popularity, which reassured us that the food would be great—and it truly was! Voir le carte

This is hands down the best Chinese food I've ever tasted, and I've sampled dishes from at least 40 different restaurants. The menu is exceptional, and the service is both quick and warm. I absolutely recommend the crispy Beijing-style pork and the duck in a plant sauce. This place is more than five times better than the next best Chinese takeout in Newtown. If this place happens to be closed, you're really in for a disappointment!

The rice dishes are delightful, especially the golden special fried rice paired with delicious gravy—it’s definitely the highlight. We also recommend the curry dishes, salt and pepper dishes, and the crispy garlic chicken from the Peking menu. The food has a wonderful aroma and is incredibly tasty. After trying all the other local takeout options, Kwai Chin has been our favorite for over 15 years. The staff is friendly and accommodating, happy to customize dishes as needed. Overall, it’s an excellent value for a meal. Meal type: Dinner.

"Staying at a caravan park nearby and thought we’d support local and try the local Italian and reading the reviews on here. Wish we hadn’t. First of all, the restaurant is run down and tired. We chose to say in the ‘little room’ after having our pick of tables in the empty restaurant. At 19:30 on a bank holiday Friday evening, we should’ve known that was a red flag. There was no music, and it was weirdly quiet even with other diners. Like awkward to speak out loud. Ordered a Moretti a lemonade. Lemonade was out of a bottle which had been open a whole, and the Moretti was a tiny bottle. We both ordered the special stater as the waitress described it so beautifully. Mushrooms in a tomato sauce on a bed of garlic bread, over baked with crispy cheese. It was laughable. 2 tiny slices of shop-bought garlic bread soaked with jarred tomato sauce, part-cooked mushrooms (some stalks were definitely raw) and cheddar on top. The whole thing had been microwaved rather than over baked which you could tell by the ‘extremely hot plates’ we were told to be careful of. I then had spag bol my partner had spaghetti with prawns. I have never had a blander spag bol in my life. It was like chewing nothing. And my partner said his was just full of garlic and was very disappointing. We’ve had nicer microwaved meals from supermarkets and can DEFINITELY cook better at home. The side of garlic bread was also shop-bought tiny slices with added garlic butter. Garlic overload AND microwaved, again with the boiling hot plate we were, again, told to watch. Parmesan also came in a tiny little dish that we had to share. We said it was nice to just pay up and leave. As the waitresses were not very approachable and looked extremely scruffy. Tatty clothes and trainers that were falling apart. I felt SO overdressed in jeans and boots! We even questioned ourselves that maybe we were being slight food snobs being from a busy city but no, this place is abysmal. The locals must also agree which is why it was dead? Needs a serious overhaul and the chefs needs sacking. Never ever again. Waste of time and money. So disappointed."
